Report Scam in AH Classifieds

Well, l feel quite certain DM from member “Bimdee” was a scam from earlier today. I was told to email someone that he knew (that seemed to be a member) had a rifle for sale.
I email the person asking for pictures and proof he had the rifle. He was offended at my request, never provided proof, only would accept elec payment like Zelle, Venmo, Bitcoin, etc. Claimed to be a member on this sight. So I DM-ed the member asking vague questions. Nothing matched up….
Damn thieves!

Why did yall even give these guys the time of day. Going as far as to email some unknown person.

Ask yourself these questions in regards to scammers pretending to be Law Enforcement;
1. Did I get a citation recently or did I receive a mailed summons or subpoena?
2. Was I in the area they are claiming I received said citation, summons, or subpoena recently?
3. Did I run through a toll both without paying recently?
4. How gullible do I look?
If I answer no to any of those questions it’s a scam and nobody is coming to arrest you. If it’s a text report it as a scam. If it shows up in your email don’t open it and delete it. Continue on with your day.

Yes. I’ve received not one but two State of Colorado “court summons” emails in the last three weeks. They have a QR code on the bottom right corner to scan and pay the fine. I guess that’s one of the latest scams going around.

my late father got a ticket in the mail for parking in a tow zone in philly pa. he informed them he had not been in philly since his discharge from the navy in 1945, they said they did not believe him. our local state rep took care of it.

In July 2025, I received a letter via USPS from the DC area to pay for a toll fee using the express lane. Looking into it, Thanks a lot GPS lady. The toll was valid.

Even legitimate government offices are trying to scam people.

A few months went by and I received a letter the vehicle was semi blacked out and the license plate semi blurred from Florida Highway Department. I haven't been in Florida since the 1980's or 90's and mode of travel was via military transport.

Sure enough the phone number and that highway department listed was legitimate but toll fees are through a subcontractor.

I called the number provided by the Florida Highway Department and the subcontractor is also legitimate. The lady said they could only read half the plate and matched the plate to my vehicle. We had a long discussion. The lady on the other end apologized and said it would be disregarded.

Two months later I received another letter regarding owing the same Florida toll. I contacted the subcontractor again. Same lady answered. We went through the same previous conversation with the same results; I didn't owe anything and the matter would be closed.

A month later same thing. The same lady at the sub contractor's office answered she then passed me off to her supervisor. Her supervisor and I had a very heated discussion about me paying the fee or having my license revoked. I told him l wasn't paying it and if I get another of these letters the next call he gets will be from an attorney and I would be filing a lawsuit with the Florida AG's office. He apologized and said I owed nothing, to disregard any further notices.

sloppy hand writing on the ticket, get one number wrong or wrong make of car and things go south for the owner of the car. they just want the money and don,t care who pays for it.

"Selling my 375 H&H medallion. These have been well cared for and are in excellent condition.here's my email. [redacted] Send me a message if you're interested. Thanks"

First off - he's been a member for 8 days. Second - no posts. Third he is referring to a single rifle as "These" and "are" - like he thinks it's more than one thing.

I smell a rat.

Poor English is a red flag. Ask him for photos. He'll probably send you ones lifted off an auction or sales site.

Hahahaha, I got a VERY similar message from GLC300 about a 375 H&H M70 Winchester.
These pictures I got from him are two different rifles and he will NOT talk to me over the phone about the sale. Says he doesn’t have the money for a new phone after losing his during an emergency event involving his wife.
The pictures he sent me were from a rifle that was for sale here a couple yrs ago and had been sold.

Scammed for Swift Aframes from an account associated with the handle Xerox. He pulled a picture from a previous post. His zelle was Jerry Rose and a phone number of (540) 379-3363.

He is doing the same with other items across various platforms as well.
