What new Ruger would you like to see in a limited special run?

I heard it was a larger stake, and they want the whole company. May not be a bad idea?

I have heard from FFLs that the single action revolver and 1022 lines are shutdown, no production.

Probably a dead thread, but I would jump in on just about any of the M77 Hawkeye Africans if 49 other people are interested.
Here's the problem, I to wish Ruger would bring out the African as a Company variation and NOT have a distributer, Lipsey's in particular have anything to do with them. One does not find these firearms because they are scooped up by Lipsey's small dealers and then because its a LIMITED run, the prices go up. Oh sure you can get your name on Lipsey's phantom "wish List" and that's about all you do, get your name on a list, doesn't mean you'll ever see it. Those on the ground floor, small dealer's (Lipsey's words not mine) and Lipsey's buddies (my words not theirs) get these at the cost listed, or cheaper, then the rest of us, can only hope not to get gouged on the secondary market.

A few days ago, @MontanaGrant started a thread about the Ruger African in 450 Bushmaster that was made exclusively for Randy's Hunting Center in Michigan. This thread eventually devolved into a discussion about what it would take to have a special limited run of rifles made for a group of people (like us!). So I sent RHC an email to ask that question and here is the response I got:

Darryl,

We work very closely with Ruger on exclusive rifles for our company. Generally they require between 75 and 100 firearms (same model and caliber), but we believe that they would run a minimum order of 50 rifles.

Please, let us know which model and caliber you are considering.

Best regards,

Randy’s Hunting Center

So there you have it. We need to specify a Ruger rifle model, a single caliber and 50+ of us would all agree that we would part with the money to make that happen. Is this possible? I don't know but my guess is it could be a challenge to come to a consensus. But I thought I would at least pose the question just because I was personally curious to see what your responses would be.

For the sake of this particular exercise, here's the "rules":

1. If you would buy a Ruger No. 1, specify the calibers you would be willing to purchase. You can get more detailed if you like about stainless, blued, RSI, barrel length, etc. But the main goal is just to see if there is at least one chambering that a significant number of people would purchase. Also keep in mind that at least 49 other people are going to need to agree with you. So while it might be tempting to list something esoteric, you might want to include something with commercially available ammunition on your wishlist as well.

2. If you would buy a Ruger Hawkeye African, specify the calibers you would be willing to purchase. Remember that Ruger magazines for the rifles they have been producing lately are 87mm / 3.4" so specifying the really large African calibers may not be practical. Since I'm a left-handed shooter, if that's what you want, mention that as well. I'm assuming the majority of responders will be right-handers but obviously I'm wondering if there's anyone out there like me.

To get the ball rolling, I'll go first. If this is going to be a special limited run, then I'm not really interested in getting a common chambering that is readily available in current rifles. But that's just my personal feeling:

Ruger No. 1 Tropical: 404 Jeffery

Ruger No. 1 RSI: 303 British

Ruger Hawkeye African (LH): 7x57 / 275 Rigby (my top choice by far!)

But I would also spend money to help my fellow southpaws by purchasing any of the following:

Ruger Hawkeye African (LH): 22 Hornet, 257 Roberts, 6.5x55, 7x64, 35 Whelen or 9.3x62

So here's your opportunity to put in a request for something missing & to see how that compares with the other forum members. If this thread produces a meaningful number of responses, I'll tally the totals in a later reply. Maybe start a followup thread with a poll if it appears there might be a doable choice. If the response is anemic, then that will satisfy my curiosity as to the feasibility of this endeavor as well. :D

Ruger Alaskan Guide Gun (with CRF) in .350 Remington Magnum.

“Limited run” should mean that it would be built with semi-custom features, so here are my Must-Haves:

* Iron sights, with the option to scope using the M77 integral receiver mounts;

* A 20” or 21” barrel. No longer. (The original Remmy model 600s in .350RM had 18.5” pencil barrels);

* The action is bedded in a high-end synthetic (not laminated) stock to keep weight down. The barrel is fully channeled as the M600s had;

* Fully adjustable trigger, like a Timmney;

* A quality recoil pad akin to the KickEzz type.

* Extended-capacity bottom metal, like the guy at Alaskan Arms offers for Rugers. This would increase internal mag capacity from the typical 3 rounds of .350RM to a capacity of 4 or 5 rounds.

Like the specs of Coopers .360 as he called it , little bit longer coal to have bullet seated further out and some more powder .

Well, the .350 Rem Mag, introduced in 1965, was the world’s first “short magnum,” purpose-designed to fit a short-action (2.800”) carbine.

Ruger, and later Remington, chambered it in long action (30-06 length) rifles - Ruger in the M77, Remmy in the M700. Then later, Remmy returned the .350RM to the short-action model 7 and model 673.

That said, a limited-run of .350 RM GGs (as I envision it ) would use the long/‘06 length action which, as you say, would allow for long-loading projectiles past the max 2.800” length, and thus you could load heavier bullets over more powder.

But another factor is rate of barrel twist. The M600s and M660 had 1/16 twists. That’s fine for everything from 180grn pistol bullets up to 200grn, 250grn, and maybe 275grn projectiles. But reportedly the heavier 300+grn bullets don’t stabilize well. A 1/12 twist rate, however, would better stabilize the heavier .35-cal slugs.

Ruger 350 rem mag were short actions 1-12 twist i have one.

I have inquired when purchasing from RHC pretty much the same thing and if I were to have a certain caliber made I would absolutely love the opportunity to pick up a Ruger M77 Hawkeye 338 Federal and 358win both with 20” barrels and irons.
I have a Grices Gun Shop Ruger American 358win but I am still hunting for a 338 Federal in the 77 Hawkeye.
I’ve been eyeing the Hawkeye African in 450bm they have but settled for the Ruger American 450 with the 22” barrel.

Anime Slayer APK is honestly one of the best anime apps I’ve ever used. It’s packed with a massive collection of both popular and underrated titles, and everything streams smoothly without interruptions. I appreciate how well it runs even on mid-range Android devices.
