CCH or engraving on a bespoke?

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

Look at lots of examples online to see what you like.

Personally, I cannot stand CCH, it looks sloppy to me. Plain bluing or silver is more appealing visually than CCH.

A very light touch of subtle gold line on a few edges and gold lettering for the cartridge can add a nice visual appeal. Less is more is true for engraving most of the time.
Sloppy!?
Really depends on the rifle imo. A good, proper CCH is spectacular. Turnbull for example:

I’m not a fan of CCH unless it is done by St Ledgers in the UK. I like the plainer dark blue finish seen on Purdeys rather than the more multi coloured CCH ( think Rigby ) . I also don’t like modern engraving - I’m a less is more kind of guy . The ultimate finish on a double rifle is the “Funeral” finish . A black action with no engraving or perhaps some border engraving . I picked up this cannon yesterday . It was commissioned by me quite a few years ago . Sums up my taste at least as far as an adorned bolt action goes .

I think with cch modest embelishments would make things pop
Example iron sights caliber and brand engraved in gold.
Exmple made this with AI ignore the scroll
But things that are going to be engraved anyway might as well make look good.

I have a rifle with CCH and a couple with engravings, both are nice but I prefer the latter.

When it comes to that, the difference between classy and gaudy is in a large part to do with how liberal the engraver is with his tools. I’m a less is more type person.

But that’s me and from the responses in the thread it is, like most things, all personal preference.

Dave, I could use both of them if still available. I just picked up a new .22 mag and a .22 pump that they would be perfect on.

Dan who is C. W. Richter? He seems to not be a fan of myself!
