Oregon to have "criminalizing hunting" on ballot ....

One it provides for the organization of the antis- that is those of that mind-set will become known, donor/activist list will be obtained for future actions; and Two it provides and expansion of the boundaries of possibility. Once a thought that was completely beyond reality is now considered within reach. Maybe not this time, but the shock has been accomplished and next time it won't be seen as unreasonable and to some, understandable.

I will add the folks who put this together were the same folks who put together Measure 114 in Oregon. These are radical left loonies, hell bent on disarming both Gun owners and Police. The only people who would be permitted to own guns would be State Legislators, and City Coucil of Portland. That is no BS, look it up!!

Well measure 114 was over turned in 2 different courts, and now sits in the Oregon Supreme court.

This measure to ban hunting, and fishing, actually worded as "Cruelty to Animals", is merely a pretext subterfuge to prevent folks from having a reason to own firearms. Plain and simple.

This group lost out on trying to take our guns so they are trying a different ploy! This state sucks!!
 
Be very wary of what mainstream media calls a “Conservationist” these days. Back when I graduated in “Principles Of Forestry” at the University Of Peshawar in 1967… a conservationist simply meant somebody who doesn’t want wildlife or forests to disappear. Yet had zero problems with hunting it and of itself.

These days, it basically means an animal rights nutcase who is opposed to all forms of resource utilization from flora & fauna.

I understand fl is a different place.
But since the price of meat went up.
Evey small spot of land seams to now have a stand on it.
I even know of a few older people that have let people hunt there places.
Not for money but 1/2 of everything taken

Hunting is not the reason to own firearms
At least not by the founders of the US
 
As a Washington State resident, I am watching this closely because I waterfowl hunt in Oregon. I don’t think that it’ll pass on the ballot. But putting something on the ballot is almost as dangerous as going to court. All reason and sanity leaves the room!?!?

My best friend and hunting buddy was killed in an accident about 15 years ago and I got away from local hunting for a number of years. When I thought about getting back into hunting it was shocking to see how much it was going to cost. I came to the conclusion it would be best to put that money towards an African hunting trip each year where I am getting a much better return on my money.

A lot of young hunters just can't afford to lease good hunting ground and hopefully they have some decent public grounds to hunt. Many have just found other hobbies.

One of the things I have been doing for years
Is letting friends of the kids that there parents agreed to learn to shoot and hunt on the farm.
Some like it some don’t and some did not like the rules on guns and did not end up hunting.
My bro a nra instructor and we take the gun handling serious and they have to practice enough for game shooting.

But to my surprise some like it enough that they got there dads into it or back into it

I was taught a "conservationist" was one who wanted to utilize a resource to benefit the user and the resource. The antithesis was a "preservationist"; one who wanted no use of the resource such that neither the user nor the resource benefits. In fact, in the case of a living resource, a lack of use is to its detriment; it's okay to preserve a building or a statue (an inanimate object), but to preserve a forest, or a species (to leave it alone) benefits nothing.
 
Unfortunately the left wing loonies have an agenda to destroy America in so many ways and the left bias voters are not far from a majority.
 
UPDATE: The Oregon Secretary of State just published IP 28 has enough signatures on the second count to place it on the November 2026 Ballot!

There are enough left wing lunatics in Oregon to vote for it too. Especially the way it is worded. God help Oregon and our USA!
 
All the money is tied up right now with the Boomers. When they age out, housing inventories will surge, their money will be dispersed, and you'll see some younger folks enjoying things like hunting camps again.
 
In my state in Australia hunter numbers have increased from 7,000 to over 50,000 in the past couple of decades.
The biggest driver is opportunity.

You want younger people involved, give them more opportunity. There needs to be places to hunt and it needs to be affordable to the average guy.

What is interesting the Wacko's needed 117,000 signatures to get onto the 2026 ballot. The Wacko's submitted 147,000 before the deadline. Over 30,000 bad signatures??? No election fraud here folks!

Makes me wonder about other "elections" where laws that blatantly go against The Constitution or other self- protection / reliance rights, that have narrowly passed ....

As was already stated the proposed law will not be on the OR ballot -

Pay attention to the sign being held by 1 of the activists ..... that is the end goal, to legislate a person's right to feed themselves. Those are NOT sane "beings" !
