Enter the Universe of Double Rifles & Firearms from Verney-Carron

I was wondering that myself. I didn't see any on their website. Should have kept mine. Sold it to a gentleman back in 2019. He took a nice buffalo with it last year in Botswana. Said with one shot!!! Postel Bull.jpg

I purchased from Ken his "show sample" 600 in March 2022. Other than a couple of personal guns, that about wrapped it for him.

Sorry to hear that he retired. Don't how old he is/was, but he was a pleasure to work with.

Just thought I would share this, just got off the phone with Ken. Claims he's semi-retired :-) He remembers you. He said the VC is still building doubles and would order one for me. They're running around 24k and a year to build. Cheers!!!

You won't be disappointed - my 600 is a masterpiece of gun making. It may not have all the elegance of a London gun (and certainly not the price!) Rather, built like the proverbial brick you know what, or maybe more like a Tiger tank. Also, incredibly accurate. I use reduced loads from the late Cal Pappas (with whom I communicated before his untimely passing) including his cast, coated bullets. And my own using 5744. It seems no matter what I stuff in it, she groups within couple of inches out to 50m.

Damn, sure does look big!!! Here's the .500 Ken got for me. It's a bespoke lefty. Like you said nothing special just a good looking plain gun. The balance was perfect. V-C .500 1.JPGIMG_8451.jpg

Ken is the best.
Through him I bought my first 600, my second 600, a 577 and sold them to get a bespoke 375 Flanged and bespoke 600NE - all VC.
And countless conversations with Ken were always a truly pleasure.
He is a fine and true gentleman.

Hi Dr. Ray, I will be in Cooktown from Oct 16 to Oct 23 fishing Lizard Island Black Marlin Tournament.

I have several "slack" days after fishing before I head for stay in Sydney and Fiji.

Do you have any recommendations for 1 or 2 day hunt near Cooktown?

I've hunted both DG and PG in 4 different countries in Africa.
Thank you,
Bob
