Want To Buy Double Barrel Shotgun For Dove Season (under $1,000)

It would probably be better to buy a Turkish gun then send money to Communist China, AKA Wal-Mart, Target, Auto Zone, Tractor Supply, Costco, Sam's, Dollar Tree, Lowe's, Home Depot, Dollar General, any athletic wear company, BB&B, Academy Sports, Rural King, etc. My thumbs would break before I finished this list. It's hard to pick up something we use everyday without seeing the name of our "biggest" enemy, isn't it.....sigh.

You might wanna look at the Savage 555’s they’re another import from Turkey and they offer them in several different configurations from $600-1000 and all the gauges. I’ve got a 28ga and 12ga that are my loaner guns when I take people out Dove Hunting or Clay target shooting.
I was just going to recommend the same thing. From what I understand from a very reliable source, they are the best doubles under/around $1k.

Look at Weatherby Orion also. It’s around $1000

As a life-long dove hunter - I'd try to steer toward a semi-auto in 20 which his shoulder will thank you for - plenty of those around on Gun broker or Cabela's. IF the double is a must - a Yildiz, CZ or Stoeger will fit the bill easily.
I've been in and out of the market for a 20 Beretta/Weatherby/Browning and they just arent out there with screw-in chokes under $1500.

I think many would be surprised which brands. Or specific models are made in Turkey. Weatherby Orion is one of them.

Turkey turns out some bargains for $1000

Tristar had some very nice SxS and O/U for the money.

I have an older SKB made Weatherby Orion Classic Field Grade II in 20 gauge that I’ve been intending to post for sale. It’s in excellent condition and comes with a variety of choke tubes.

PM me if you’re interested and I will shoot you some pictures.

Disregard., late to the party

My recommendation was to pick up a Miroku 500 SxS off gunbroker.com

I bought a nice one for 800$. They are built like tanks and are comparable to a Browning SxS. Miroku made Brownings SxS. Miroku has built most of Brownings shotguns since the 1970s.

I have been buying Victor Sarasqueta sidelock shotguns. I am very impressed with the fit and finish that were done on these guns. So far the only thing I have shot with them is clay pigeons. I am not the best shot but I enjoy shooting trap with them. Dont see many SxSs on the trap range.

Thank you everyone for reaching out and giving suggestions. We ended with going with a very nice Weatherby Orion from @Halligan1975.

Please post pictures when you get it. Congratulations to all involved, well done.

If you don't mind Podunk, a used Savage 311 can be had for a few hundred bucks. They usually come with a pack of Mail Pouch tobacco and Banjo.
