Where is the best steak (and why)

Morton's and Killen's are very good. Steiner Ranch in Austin overlooking Lake Travis is very good also.
Mastro's is good. I don't think a lot of people know just how good quail is. There is a place in uptown Houton called La Guadalajara and if you order the combination fajita platter those quail are to die for.

I honestly don't enjoy restaurant steaks, and it must be partly down to the ambiance and partly down to the fact that once the tasty outer edge is gone the rest is just a bit cold and mushy.
My friend puts brisket on a braai and you eat it with sadza (corn meal) on the side. You keep returning your piece to the braai as you go to warm it and refresh the outer crisp. Delicious!
I would love to try that. It sounds great...

Y'all making me hungry.

Love Peter Luger's
- Keens' I think the Mutton Chop is their top dish
I've ogled the mutton, but never been able to stray from a ribeye or prime rib. Love eating there beneath the churchwarden pipes, starting dinner with a Manhattan, or two, and going from there. I'll never forget one Christmas season when an ambulance was called. Some poor guy was there for a holiday party and he had a heart attack! We've celebrated so many milestones at Luger's over the years. Now, unfortunately, I have alpha gal after a turkey hunt and whenever I go to a steakhouse I eat fish!

Anywhere a Certified Black Angus is walking around being grass fed and grass finished waiting to be my next Ribeye.

Only about 50 times - outstanding steal!!

I've always wanted to try it and actually thought about making a weekend trip to NYC just to try it.

Some years back I had seen where the NYT had rated Peter Luger's a TWO STARS; several people I talked to said that was because it's old and the interior is dated where as the NYT gave higher grades to the new upstarts with fresh interiors.

Living and working in Argentina kind of ruined me for eating steak/beef. Estilo Campo is my absolute favorite place to put on the feedbag for a grilled meat feast. A close second would be Don Julio's. I lived a couple blocks from there. Apart from great beef, I think the overall Argentinian asado experience is what makes them the best. Starting with empanadas, morcilla, chorizos, mojellas and chinchulines before the main course. It is an experience that takes a few hours vs the standard US "sprint" dining experience of rushing you in and out. In my old job, it seemed most of the team bonding and business decisions were made over good food and drink so I have dined in some great restaurants (and some not so great). However, Argentina remains my favorite.

I have a good Argentinian friend that told me "Che, it is not your fault you have no culture. You were born in the US! Thank God you have a good Argentinian friend that will teach you about food, drink and how to appreciate and love real futbol!" :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO: He taught me to grill and even let me run a parrilla at his restaurant a few times (with proper supervision ) He would insist I dress like a "real" Texas cowboy (which means I looked like an extra in a B Western) and advertise his special guest BBQ Grill Master from Texas. We had a lot of fun.

Now, we buy high quality meat and grill at home most of the time.

Safe travels

I cook my own steaks the way I want them and have a special seasoning rub. However, it is always a challenge in rural Colorado to find good meat out in our area, which definitely affects the quality. For me, if I need to choose between restaurants that cook the steak perfectly, use the best quality meat, have a good seasoning mix, and a great outside crust, it is a toss-up between the Bone-in Ribeye at either Bobby Van's Grill in Washington, DC or The Steakhouse inside the Circus Circus Casino in Las Vegas, NV. Both are pricey, but definitely worth every penny.

I am aware of the article it was a hack job by the writer. I have been going to Lugers since the late 70s. There are 2 locations both are very good. The original is the one in Brooklyn, but I have often dined at the Long Island location. I guarantee you will not be disappointed.

Interesting to see the Double Nickel on this list. I never had a bad steak there but nothing that really stands out to me. Next time you are in Lubbock go to Las Brisas.
Its been 15 years or so since I took my then GF (now wife) there while she was in school at Tech. Can't recall the occasion, but I think it holds more sentimental memory than actual quality of the food.

To be honest, I'm more partial to a Brazilian churrascaria restaurant these days, but one of my favorite steak places in the DFW area is Capital Grille. There is also an excellent locally-owned place where I live in McKinney called Local Yocal that is very much worth a visit. My friend is the proprietor and sources his grass fed beef from their multi-generational ranch in southern Oklahoma. The guy is an absolute savant when it comes to beef pedigrees and cooking methods.

If we are going to talk chicken fried, then Perry's in Dallas has a chicken fried Ribeye--just as good as it sounds.

Yes, Bohanan’s is the best steakhouse in San Antonio and the pricing reflects that too. The best value is the lunch steak.

In San Antonio most places get their meat from Texas Meat Purveyors so most of the difference is seasoning and the cooks skill.

The best steak I ever had from a restaurant was from here. Perfectly aged, seasoned and cooked.
I second that for Charleys but the one in Kissimmee FL is unreal. The combination of oak & citrus wood they use on the grill is the secret sauce. The smoked cauliflower is phenomenal as well.
I've taken well traveled men there and they voted it the best steak they have had.

Best any kind of steak: red stag at the 3 Chimneys on the Isle of Skye

Best Tomahawk: Silks Steakhouse in Versailles Ky

Best Cote De Boeuf: used to be Toogie’s Table in Bardstown Ky, but they’ve gone downhill

Best dry aged/Wagyu: Kayne Prime in Nashville

Also, Omaha is full of great steak places.

Dave, I could use both of them if still available. I just picked up a new .22 mag and a .22 pump that they would be perfect on.
Anime Slayer APK is honestly one of the best anime apps I’ve ever used. It’s packed with a massive collection of both popular and underrated titles, and everything streams smoothly without interruptions. I appreciate how well it runs even on mid-range Android devices.

Dan who is C. W. Richter? He seems to not be a fan of myself!
