Franz-Albrecht shooting a 4x8x57....

the common man there doesn,t get to go on hunts like that.
That is not actually true at all.

A driven hunt in the forest service is about 300 Euros or $340 for a one day hunt. Some of them are $50 depending on your access and who you book through.

Private driven hunts on private land are typically $500 per drive.

Normally there is not a charge for predators, young wild boar, roe deer, and female animals. Depending on the situation there could be a trophy charge for red stags, fallow bucks and mouflon. Here at the driven hunt I did recently, there was no charge for any trophy animals. I think one stag was shot. The previous week about 3 miles away several guys got mouflon rams and I think one guy got a stag. They paid $1200 for the mouflon and $2400 for the stag.

You must also attend a driven hunt qualification. This is either on a shooting cinema shooting live ammo at a big TV screen at wild boars and stags.

A wild boar and roe buck lease is about $500-1500 a year.

Red stag leases are more expensive $5000-10,000 a year, leases that have mouflon, fallow deer are similar and leases that have chamois are $7500-25,000 a year depending on how close they are to a major city. Typical leases like this allow for one trophy animal, a few female animals of a couple of different species.

The majority of hunters on every hunt I have ever been on in Europe are working class blue collar guys. Only once twice have I hunted with business owners who both owned companies valued in the 15-30 million range. Kind of like most hunts in America.

Dentlers are dying on the vine. They are half off at Frankonia. $2700 USD for a $5900 rifle.

BUT...a semi auto is illegal in Africa--strangely a veering is NOT, though it provides the same benefit.
I don't know if it is still the case, but in Namibia, it was possible to import a semi-automatic rifle as long as you went through Frankfurt and not Johannesburg. I know a PH who had in the past several european customers using Browning Bar rifles in .338 Winchester magnum and .300 Winchester magnum.

I also saw this video yesterday where a hunter kills a leopard in Mozambique with a Winchester SRX2 semi-automatic.
3:10"

However, I have never thought to bring one to Africa, I prefer my other rifles.

Neat interview with the builder (who you can watch hunting with the Prince in some of his videos like buffalo fever). The question is asked...how much longer does it take to build this 4 barrel rifle than a regular double rifle? The answer...10x! The prototype has 5k rounds through it and has not come off face. Wow.

While hunting with Luke Samaras Franz was hunting with Heritage Safaris which at that time shared Luke’s concession. One day we met for lunch as he wanted to talk to Luke about old times, changes, experiences as an elephant hunter. Very pleasant person. I had seen a few of his wild boar videos but not aware of status in life. At that time he was shooting buffalo a single barrel underlever 375 H&H which I think was made by the same gunmaker that made the four barrel gun. It handled and balanced nicely. He commented that he had heard hogs were being hunted from helicopters in Texas. He did not think was very sporting. I told him maybe not so sporting but fun for some. I tried to be humble so he would not detect my south Texas royalty.

I am sure he would’ve been exceptionally impressed. :).

I met him once and a Hornady booth at a hunting show here in Germany. He was standing in line doing the grip and grin and giving away Hornady hats that he signed. He’s a nice guy. He’s an interesting guy. He’s kind of a dandy. I don’t know if that is a product of being a Bavarian prince or his financial circles. I was watching a video where he was talking about his vest that he was wearing and I thought oh that’s interesting. I wonder what the deals with that company and I look them up and the vest was like €3000. For sure not a middle class guy.

See you are from Denmark - see quite a few Danes where I stalk in Scotland - great hunters.
The Harkilia stuff works well in Africa - I have a bit for use here in UK.
I am again looking for 600 Nitro dies preferably RCBS 1 inch. The set I purchased previously are 1 1/2 inch and do not fit my die. Another member has graciously taken them off my hands. If anyone happens to have a set of 600 Nitro Dies that will fit my Rockchucker Supreme RCBS press, please shoot me a message and thanks in advance for any assistance you may have to offer!
I have not posted any items for sale on this forum and will not every put anything for sale. My account was hacked and I've worked with the admin to get things shut down.
