Franz-Albrecht shooting a 4x8x57....

Agreed. I see him delving into more of that in the roe hunting videos as he is spending time with gamekeepers, very old estates, serious roe collectors, etc. He's wearing his traditional gear vs Harkila on his Wild Boar Fever TV series. In other words, he's in his own element instead of a marketing TV series. I'm fascinated with how he spends time with the downed roe to examine and respect it and point out different genetic features. He seems like an old soul in a younger guy.

That's a beautiful gun. If you compare the accuracy to a classic bolt action, it's very bad, but it's not its main purpose and some "classic double rifles don't do better at 100 meters.

Most of the time, we don't shoot far in driven hunt so the gun is accurate enough.
But I'm sure it's a hard work for the gunsmith to get a good regulation and he needs a lot of rounds.
I can't afford such masterpiece and I will be worried to damage it in the bush. I will stick with semi-automatic rifles to shoot quickly several shots without reloading.
BUT...a semi auto is illegal in Africa--strangely a veering is NOT, though it provides the same benefit.

Blasted Autocorrect--Vierling!

He's a neat little guy, I met him at Jagd and Hund about 7 or 8 years ago, the first one I ever went to. You had to stand in line and he was giving out Hornady hats so it was a bonus.

At the time I only kind of knew who he was.

Now that he is doing the Wild Boar Fever shows, and selling stuff for Hornady I have seen more of him.

I judge him to be about 5'9 and if he weighs 140 pounds I would be shocked. He is also a German celeb on the dating scene, when he was single.

He is the first "royal" person I have ever met, that in itself was underwealming. There are actually quite a few of these Furth's or Princes in German hunting society. I have met quite a few more. All equally underwealming. They are just people in the spotlight.

Really enjoy his content though, it would be amazing to hunt wherever his area is. The trophy quality is exceptional for fallow and red deer. Compared to most of the rest of Germany.

Compared to Hohenfels and Grafenwoehr his stags are 40-50% bigger. Compared to the Pfalzerwald near my house, his Fallow are way bigger.

If I had to guess. Id say probably on some family estates.

Hows the stag near you?

I don't think too tremendous. The Pfalzerwald doesn't have a lot of big fields in it.

Probably better than the stags in the Alps though.

I was shocked by the size of stags in Hungary in body size and antlers compared to the stags I saw here and in Bavaria.

Stags I saw in Tyrol and Slovenia were small with small but very pretty antler sets.

This was western Hungary near Balaton.

The bigger Hungarian stags I am gold are on the other side of the country.

Does anybody do any supplemental feeding/mineral block program to improve antler quality?

As I’m alone in a hotel in Germany these videos were a nice distraction.

But what a difference in style of with so many American hunter movies! That struck me the most.

Anyone knows what that bull-pop bolt action was that “Nicolaus” was using?

You mention the difference in hunting styles between countries...what strikes me is how OLD the hunting traditions are in Europe. Also, there is a LOT more respect for the game that is taken. There are ceremonies and rituals, certain phrases are spoken, respect is given. I like that.

That too, but I was mainly referencing the difference in style of the videos. Without disrespect to my American friends, but so often American hunting videos are full of bravado, pumping action and strong words. To put it eloquently “Yeehaw!”.

While these videos are more quiet, observant and respectful towards the quarry I have the impression.

That's exactly what I'm talking about. How we celebrate is very different...I often will get really quiet and stand or sit for a few minutes to take it all in. Often there is some emotion, at least internally, and there is no shame in there being visible emotion to others....I mean respectful emotion not loud sports like celebrating. Take an elephant and see how sobering that is.

How we take photos is very different. I really dislike the conquering type photo of foot on the animal or things of that nature. I remember being given "instruction" by someone in hunt camp on really getting over that animal and wrap your hands around the antlers like this...I snapped and said I'm not looking for advice and I don't take Bubba photos that way. I really do like how PHs are spending more time with taking good photos and removing clutter from around the animal...removing blood from the photo scene, etc. I've asked trackers what they think of that in Africa and they have been very positive in their remarks. They think it's more respectful and I agree.

You would be keelhauled here.

Dentler 21? Maybe.

Because you have to act reverent on the game fields in Europe.
Each bullet I fire is a prayer.

But i think the divergence in culture stems from european hunting has always been an aristocratic pursuit and alot more regulated. Even tho its more accessable.
Usa alot of hunting was for subsistance on the fronteer. And a hunting licence is 40 dollars and a 2 day online course that basically says wear orange dont shoot people wearing orange.
Im not a fan of the majority of how american culture has devolved across the board. But thats a topic for another time.

the common man there doesn,t get to go on hunts like that.

Dentler 21? Maybe.
No

That's the new rifle from Walther

There are already some pictures in different forums. Should be presented at the "Jagd und Hund 2026"

Be careful of hunting Chewore South, the area has been decimated.....

Curious about this. I hunted Chewore South with D&Y in September and they did tell me it was there last hunt there.

Which outfits shot it out?
