Franz-Albrecht shooting a 4x8x57....

One of the best rifleman on the planet.

Interesting. I have owned a couple of Vierlings over the years. However these were traditional in construction. Both had a 16 bore shotgun barrel and three rifle barrels. One was 8x57JR, 6x57R, and .22LR. The other was 9.3x74R, a never identified 6mm, and 250 Savage HP. It was very nearly impossible to get everything to hit together. I assume it might be easier with four identical chamberings.

I don't even want to think about trying to regulate loads for that Beast!
I think it would have potential to make a sane man crazy. Lol
It's got a scope on it too...and the ejectors seem complicated too.

Best I can tell, the top three shells all work off of one ejector but there's a ejector cutoff switch on the for end if only one or two shells are shot.

I have seen SXSXS three barrel, 3XO/U but never four rifle shot. I am sure he got a WELL regulated rifle due to the advertising exposure which will ensue. Wow.

I watched that one a week or so ago. I really enjoy his videos. His videos make me want to experience a european hunt of some type.
When your a prince. I think you generally have alot of acess most folks do not. But he makes very good content.

But a european stag and mouflon is on my bucket list.

Wouldn't be able to handle any of those rifles, what with having to hold the drool bucket, lol. Seeing his collection in person would really be a treat. Some exquisite firearms in that display. He is also quite an accomplished marksman; those guns all get used, proficiently.

In one of Scheiring's videos they state that their approach to regulate those 4 barrels at once is basically "throw lots of time (=money) at it - and then some more".

Being of Germanic heritage myself, I love the wonderful craftsmanship.

The real world problems with such a monstrosity are obvious. Teutonic technology often goes down a rathole and if you stand back for a minute, you come to the logical conclusion of "What the heck are we doing?"

During the war insane amounts of time and effort were put into weapons systems that were called "Wonder Weapons", but were so overly complicated they turned out to be useless.

More than 2 barrels is a waste of good gunsmithing IMHO.

That's a beautiful gun. If you compare the accuracy to a classic bolt action, it's very bad, but it's not its main purpose and some "classic double rifles don't do better at 100 meters.

Most of the time, we don't shoot far in driven hunt so the gun is accurate enough.
But I'm sure it's a hard work for the gunsmith to get a good regulation and he needs a lot of rounds.
I can't afford such masterpiece and I will be worried to damage it in the bush. I will stick with semi-automatic rifles to shoot quickly several shots without reloading.

That vierling is an interesting engineering exercise but the real star is the Prince. I've watched many of his shooting videos and I'm still amazed at his accuracy at speed, offhand on running game in the woods. He also handles a double rifle very well on buffalo and cycles a bolt gun faster than anyone I've seen. I believe his father is an Olympic level shooter as well. I've asked people who have met him and the consistent reply is that he is really easy to talk to and an interesting person.

If you want to find his passion in hunting, look up some of his full length videos on hunting old roe deer. He's most well known for his driven boar shooting but he really is committed to the gamekeeping and hunting of old roe deer.

I wish he went into more detail on traditional german hunting customs and gear. That could probably make several interesting videos.

Be careful of hunting Chewore South, the area has been decimated.....

Curious about this. I hunted Chewore South with D&Y in September and they did tell me it was there last hunt there.

Which outfits shot it out?
Impala cull hunt for camp meat!
