So I’m heading back to the Eastern Cape next week for my 2nd safari. On my first trip there in 2024 the weather was cool so I only wore shorts 1 day.

Looking at the upcoming weather it looks to be in the mid to upper 70’s.

My only real concern with shorts other than scratches from thorns are ticks.

I’m torn between lightweight hunting pants and throwing in shorts some days. Thoughts ? Thanks.

If there is any way possible for me to wear shorts, I'm wearing shorts! When I was in Uganda I did wear long pants because the tsetse flies were especially bad! When I wear shorts I do apply some kind of tick lotion on my legs.

Thorns are not much of a problem.

I wear shorts only at home in summer months.
I hunt always in long pants.
Why? Bugs, Mosquitos, tiks...

On the other hand who wear shorts?
Almost all PH's that I had wore shorts during hunt.
Professionals do.

So, it is personal choice.

A dozen years travelling to RSA... cargo pants ...... Indeed for the last 30 years cargo pants .......exceptions are weddings and funerals ...both equality sad occasions.

Depends on the weather..

I always at least bring a pair or two..

There have been years that the weather is just too cold in the early morning hours to do it (for me)..

But if I can get away with it, I do...

My deer season starts on 1 October in TX (I hunt MLD Program land)... Im typically in shorts, soaked in mosquito repellant, and fending off wasps in my blind for the first month each year while hunting deer as well..

You're not hunting in Africa until you have some blood dripping down your legs. Buy some skin so soft sunscreen/bug replant and enjoy hunting in shorts.

I took shorts on my first trip on my PHs recommendations. I wore them a couple times, but I am really not a shorts guy and don't plan on taking them this year.

Are ticks much of a problem in Africa ? I did not see any or hear any talk of them in Namibia's Caprivi strip on my 2024 buff hunt.

I’m Zimbabwean, short shorts are in my genetics!

See you are from Denmark - see quite a few Danes where I stalk in Scotland - great hunters.
The Harkilia stuff works well in Africa - I have a bit for use here in UK.
I am again looking for 600 Nitro dies preferably RCBS 1 inch. The set I purchased previously are 1 1/2 inch and do not fit my die. Another member has graciously taken them off my hands. If anyone happens to have a set of 600 Nitro Dies that will fit my Rockchucker Supreme RCBS press, please shoot me a message and thanks in advance for any assistance you may have to offer!
I have not posted any items for sale on this forum and will not every put anything for sale. My account was hacked and I've worked with the admin to get things shut down.
