I actually bought this Heym off of this forum.
It needed some gunsmithing. JJ replaced the firing pins and other springs. He also put grooves in rib to allow for attachment of a Trijicon RMR which comes with it.
Trij is not in pic

Who was the forum member you bought it from? Can you add pictures with the rifle and your username and date? Any receipts for the work done? A Heym “needing some smith work done” seems like a pretty rare occurrence unless it was abused.

Wow, superb deal. If the first two buyers fall through, put me in line!

There seems to be missing milled rib agreed.

I’m sending the seller a fake check for $1000 over asking price. For him to pay my shipping person out of the $1000 extra.

Whoa, hold the horses, everyone. Before we start writing him off as a scammer, I’ll play devils advocate for a moment.

First, this advertisement was posted about three hours ago. Let’s give him a chance to respond… did we forget it’s Easter weekend? Many people are focused on their family and faith — higher & better priorities.

Second, it’s possible the photos the seller has posted — he has been a forum member for over two and a half years now — are older photos that don’t reflect the work JJ did. I know I have had to repost photos of a gun before when somebody pointed out an oversight and I bet a lot of us here have been in a similar situation at one point or the other.

Third, many of us know JJ or have had work done on our rifles by him. The photos show part of a serial number. There are not too many Heym 88’s in .375 H&H floating about, and it would be about a five minute conversation with JJ to verify, especially because of the precise work claimed done by the seller.

Seems this gentleman may be needing to offload this rifle below market for reasons of his own. Inflation is rising, and economic times are definitely harder than they were a decade ago.

I think all points are fair, we’ve had a rash of scammers lately which probably gives a lot of the members the jitters when dealing with classifieds from people that aren’t regular participants on the forums. And well noted @Whit , we all have our reasons for buying and selling as we please. @LHPF565 has posted here before inquiring about red dot options on Heyms.

@LHPF565 mine is a sincere and genuine offer, you have a pm with my contact and I look forward to speaking with you

Is this it?

If this is the Heym that Skshyk sold here. It did indeed have issues with the face and firing pins if I remember correctly. So some facts are adding up.
Ask to look at the face near the firing pins. I think there looked to be some overpressure or case failure issues. If I remember correctly. Could have been a different rifle I’m thinking of also

Gent’s prior posts seem legit, including setting up a 88b in 375 that JJ worked on. I mean…if a scammer, he’d be the most patient and well laid out one I’ve ever seen. Laying his bread crumbs and baiting the hook so to speak, back in 2024 so he could patiently await his prey and spring his trap two years later?

I think as a community of likeminded brothers, we should be vigilant and smart and cautious…but also not be too quick to shit all over ads of call people’s character into question publicly without a REAL basis. Some folks don’t post much and sell via classifieds even less, so are not the artful sellers other are accustomed to.

We should ask more, but be slow to accuse.

It seems that asking questions about incorrect pictures should not offend the seller. Introduction to the classifieds section tells us to be cautious.
I have only bought 3 items on this site spending 16,000. Each time I asked seller for more pictures with dates. Made phone calls to seller about the items. If they would have been offended by my requests it would have been a deal breaker.

All may be good, I'm still waiting to hear back from the seller.

Yes I can find the receipt. I don’t think it was abused, I’m a gunsmith too but I don’t work on Heym Double Rifles, that is a specialty and everyone that has a Heym knows JJ and sends their Heym to him, if it was rare JJ wouldn’t be getting any work. Lol Additionally, nothing is perfect all guns require maintenance from time to time unless it’s a show piece and never gets fired. Even Chris from
Heym recommends JJ. I’ll look through the posts to see who it was. I have him in my phone as HYK. I’ll definitely take more pics if interested. I put 60 rounds through it. I inspected the barrels and measured the chambers and thoroughly cleaned it when I got it. I had a firing pin reset issue from what I recall. I don’t know exactly the issue was but JJ replaced both firing pins for sure. My username should be on the post but it’s LJPF565

Hi LHPF565 -

Please see your messages - my contact info is there.

Thank you

I Did some serious picture comparisons and this rifle looks 100% like the one that was sold here before that wishfulthinker posted.

Especially take a look at stock nicks, and on the left side of the gun on the barrel near the action.

Looks like a great gun and with the fixes from JJ I would hope it’s a ready for Africa gun.

If something falls through with buyer(s) let me know. I have a friend that leant me one of these but at some point will want it back and I would love to own my own. Such an incredible rifle especially in .375.

See you are from Denmark - see quite a few Danes where I stalk in Scotland - great hunters.
The Harkilia stuff works well in Africa - I have a bit for use here in UK.
I am again looking for 600 Nitro dies preferably RCBS 1 inch. The set I purchased previously are 1 1/2 inch and do not fit my die. Another member has graciously taken them off my hands. If anyone happens to have a set of 600 Nitro Dies that will fit my Rockchucker Supreme RCBS press, please shoot me a message and thanks in advance for any assistance you may have to offer!
I have not posted any items for sale on this forum and will not every put anything for sale. My account was hacked and I've worked with the admin to get things shut down.
