What scope for a 416 Remington Mag

Hi guys
Just thinking it over and I want advice for a good scope to take the recoil of my 416 rem mag. Remington 700 I hunt at close to moderate ranges maybe 250 yards usually max, deer elk bear are the game, will a standard vortex 3-9 work for it should I get a leupold ?

I would recommend a Leupold Patrol 6HD 1-6 as the best choice for your 416 Rem or a Leupold VX-5HD 2-10 if you desire more magnification, both on sale at EuroOptic. Each scope is just over 1lb and with mounts and rings you’d be adding about 1 1/2 lbs to your rifle.

Agreed. I have 2 of the 2-10VX5s and also the VX5 1-5 with the Firedot

That Firedot is a great addition in low light or something like a black bear…so I think that Patrol 1-6 would be perfection for you and at a great price
 
I have the VX 5 2-10, firedot on my 416 Rem. Works great. It is in Talley QD rings and bases. Keeps zero without issue and has held up through 200 plus rounds since I got it set up this time last year for my hunt last year. Preformed flawlessly.

Yes the 1-6x with the firedot is a great choice
 
Leupold VX 6 1-6 on a 416 Rigby, good field of view at 1x, about 150 rounds fired, no issues.
I suspect the lower grade Leupolds are of a similar quality
 
Take two scopes both pre-zeroed and mounted in QD rings. One scope for general purpose use and the other scope specifically selected for leopard. Have to be very careful with the eye relief specification for the large objective bell leopard scope on your .416 Remington.
 
Does anyone know why the Patrols seem to have been discontinued? I was looking for one a few weeks ago and couldn't find one! Wish I'd seen EuroOptic!
 
I have a VX6 1X6 on my 416 but I don't shoot at 250 yards that said if you're shooting that far the 2x10 would be better.

Discontinued model. Does not mean they are discontinuing the Patrol, just rebranding or adding features..
 
Got a VX6 1-6 on my 416 REM mag, just put a 1-6 Patrol from Euro Optic on my Blaser 375 H&H barrel
 
I have 4 416 rem mags all have japaneese made 3x9 nikons on them and one has lasted 2500 shots .I use weaver bases with burris signature zee rings on it .I do like 50 mm scopes better with lots of eye relief so you dont get hit in the eye.I always shoot my rifle standing at the bencb put a milk crate with a bull bag on top way less recoil .

I'm constantly thinking about what to use from the sight on the 416.
If used scope,then the most important thing is that it has the maximum distance from the eye. I also think that anything more than 4x is redundant for this caliber. 1-4 is perfect.
I will probably decide on a quick point. If you prefer optical lenses, look for those that are the most resistant to impact (shock prof) and that have max eye relief.
 
Most modern scopes will take the recoil. The greater question is, “Will your eyebrow take the recoil ?”
Don’t crawl the stock, mount scope correctly and get a scope with lots of eye relief. :)
