The trump admin has no plan to bring back manufacturing jobs. The bills passed under Biden had a much better chance. The trade deficits are still getting worse. Nothing will change until this country drops It’s adherence to shareholder value theory…absolutely nothing. It’s the main reason why I no longer vote Republican, they’ve completely abandoned the workers of this country in favor of the wealthy ruling class.

Multiple tax cuts for the rich under Reagan, multiple tax cuts for the rich under Bush, Multiple tax cuts for the rich under Trump. The largest tax cut for the middle class and the working poor was Biden‘s Covid Relief Bill; while not giving any tax cuts to anyone making over $400,000 a year. There are plenty of corporatist, globalist Democrats, but the entire Republican Party has been captured by that mindset.

Tax cuts for the rich simply do not trickle down to the rest of us, and shareholder value theory is destroying this country‘s middle class.
Oh yes those evil rich people (that ALREADY PAY most of the taxes) and those evil corporations! Last I looked, corporations were made up of people with jobs and shares owned by - wait for it - people. This is a capitalist country and society. Businesses are supposed to try to MAKE A PROFIT. Otherwise, what’s the point of taking the risk to start or operate a business? A business is not just a social program to pay the employees only. Your thoughts lead me to believe that you’ve never had to meet a payroll and also pay all the payroll taxes. Withholding taxes aren’t really withheld from employees. Employees don’t write that check to the government. Employee salaries are basically their take home pay and the company pays the “withholding.” Then the government taxes the employee again. If you want to live in a socialist society, move to Europe or better yet, Cuba or Venezuela. Take a look at the productivity rate of European companies that can hardly terminate a poor producing employee. Don’t let the door hit you in the azz!

Thats not entirely accurate. California fuel prices go up and down, just like the rest of the states. There is a certain amount of extra costs due to taxation, environmental policy, and labor from that state. But one of the big components that nobody ever mentions is the simple fact that there are no petroleum pipelines that run from the Gulf Coast to California. Therefore, if the state of California can’t refine their own crude (they cant), it has to be refined elsewhere and then delivered via boat, which is going to be much more expensive. Just like the state of Florida. Most of the gasoline for the state of Florida has historically been refined and delivered via a boat from the Caribbean.

You really should go through some of my old posts if you want to fully understand the situation. It’s much more complex and foolish than you alluded to to.

At an individual level I have no doubt and never stated that they don’t.

I ran a major processing facility ($3.5 B steel with 350 staff), and then a division for a Fortune 500 company. I can assure you that every plant manager, divisional president, and the CEO cared deeply about the safety and well being of every one of our employees. We are all on the same team. We win and lose together and take care of each other. I have very little patience for the comments that execs care only about the bottom line. I’m sure that is true of some, but not the ones I worked with.

I do wonder why some people think that worrying about the bottom line and worrying about worker safety would be mutually exclusive. Especially in these days where everything gets reported, shared on social media and financiers are so worried about detriment to brand value by callous decisions.

You've never seen the owner of a company hand over control of a CAT D10 to an illiterate illegal immigrant.....

Back in the Stone Age when I was in college, the goal of the firm was to maximize shareholder wealth. It appears now, some believe that the goal is to maximize executive wealth.

Personally, I don’t share what executives or employees are paid, as long as it’s reasonable and I am getting my return on investment.

I generally agree with you that executives and owners care greatly about the workers. What happens is that it isn't universal and when they don't it can sometimes have disastrous consequences. So, as with many things, the few bad actors result in very public events that lead people to draw broad conclusions about all executives and/or owners. The very few taint the publics opinion of the very many.

I think that's it. We have all seen stories about high level execs and their golden parachutes when things go to crap, even as the everyday worker gets shafted. As several on here who have been executives have pointed out, those are the exceptions - not the rule. But the bad apples often dominate the spotlight.

Anyone who is surprised by this...I have a bridge for sale in Brooklyn. I hate to say it but things are going to get sporty.

AQ, ISIS, Taliban, ISWAP, are all going to be gearing up. They are all working together now too, sadly. You are going to see a lot more of what happened in TX, NYC, etc. As much as I hate to say it, it's probably true.

Keep your heads on a swivel especially in large, unsecured, places. Shopping malls, outdoor events, etc. I've been trying to keep my family away from soft targets for some time now.

Wife wanted to take the kids to a nearby major, major mall two weekends ago and I said absolutely not.

Correct, the damage to pavements increases exponentially with weight. An 80k pound truck is 1400-3000 times more damaging to the roadway than a passenger car or light-duty truck. If anything, the taxes should be even higher for trucks.
Any truck with a GWR over 26,000 lbs has to pay a Highway use tax and have the appropriate HUT sticker displayed.

Not sure if it has changed but off road diesel has a higher sulphur content than on road as well as dye. This may have changed now.
They have been the same for quite a while now. 20+ years sticks in my head for some reason

Yup. Dyed red, slightly higher sulfur content, and more crude in terms of oil. The main reason is taxation. We get the off road stuff trucked in for our boat. I pay no tax. Last year when on-road was going for $4/gallon I was getting the off-road stuff trucked in for $3.15 a gallon. Makes a big difference when you're buying 300+ gallons. Home heating oil can also be burned in diesel engines and that can be cheaper.

They make a big deal about running offroad diesel in over-the-road equipment. The troopers here have test kits. It's usually a long swab they will dip down into the fuel tank to test to see if its dyed red. Huge fine if you're caught using it.

I've only ever heard of them doing that one time. It was to someone driving a commercial semi.

After what happened in NYC, there will be more of those Goat Humpers that the Dems let in making pipe bombs and other types of IED's.

Very, very slight difference. It's slightly higher sulfur and a little more crude. Not enough to notice a difference in performance. Off road is typically also a little "dirtier" too.

On-road gets pre-filtered and then run through filters at the pump as well. Off-road, supposedly, gets a pre filter before it's put into the truck but that's it. They assume the folks using it are running two stage filtration systems. A coarse filter right after the tank and then an on-board micron filter before the pump and injectors.

Hi - the only (best) method of sending you the .375/06IMP data is with photographing my book notes. My camera died so the only way I can do it is with my phone. To do that, I would need your e-mail address, as this
new Android phone is too complicated to upload to my desk computer, which would be easier and to down-grade, reduce the file sizes.
Best wishes
Daryl

Hey Steve, This is Steve Washington we met at KMG last year. I am interested in your Winchester. Would love to speak with you about it. I work third shift and I cannot take a phone with me to work. Let me know a good time to call during one of your mornings. My phone is [redacted]. Live in Florida so I have to account for the time difference.
Look forward to hearing from you.

Good day, Slider.

Do you by any chance have any 500NE brass left that you are willing to part ways with?

Best regards,
