Mexico warning and heads- up

So what your saying is that after the public temper tantrum is over with we can look forward to months of back and forth reprisal killings?

Good luck to those of you looking for sunny beaches and cheap destination weddings!
thanks! Got a wedding in Cabo and gonna do some fishing.

I’m not associated with the cartel so it has nothing to do with me haha. I’m not important. I’m more worried about random mass shootings in the USA than cartel infighting that has nothing to do with me.

No.
As dchum stated...what is taking place now is a "reprisal" against the Mexican authorities by the CJNG cartel for the killing of their Boss.
The next chaos (as usual) will then be a result of the other cartels, fighting with the "weakened" CJNG... and each other...for control of the areas that they now perceive as being weak and "up for grabs".

I used to go to Mexico frequently for vacations.

That changed when I made a number of friends in the K&R industry and they advised me just how dangerous that country is. They are professional risk evaluators and were very clear it was one of the most dangerous countries in the world to visit.

But they don't put that on the websites or brochures.
I was just reading that 7 out of the 10 most violent cities WORLDWIDE are in Mexico. Not to comforting for traveling there.

Their kidnapping statistics are simply insane.
Very good point, the homicide rate is one statistic, the missing person rate is a new level of insanity.

Think about that… No body, No Homicide right?

Then there is the “Polozero”(soup maker) method of disposing of bodies in barrels of acid/caustic soda…this method has been standard practice for over a decade.

Ive been thinking of switching to ripcord. Global rescue is starting to get a bad rap. Either its too dangerous or not dangerous enough?
I've bought both but thankfully never needed them. I am unsure of the difference between the two. I believe GR is a larger organization. They have both been SCI sponsors. I am about to purchase a new membership since I have Zim and Pakistan on the list for this year. Shopping....

Is there a noticeable difference in their policy’s/obligations?

No it's the same basic policy. The main difference is that GR makes you buy a membership and then buy separate travel insurance whereas Ripcord will do a travel policy with medical evac included at a better price. Ripcord if you are doing one extreme trip (I don't buy for RSA/Namibia hunts) and Global Rescue if you have two or more trips to extreme places.

Thanks for the response

Worked with some Mexican brothers from TX on a BASF job in 2016. They used to travel back and forth all the time and buy prescriptions , chickens, saddles, etc. everything was less expensive and better quality. “We don’t go anymore. Too dangerous.” Ten years ago.

Some people just have a nack for being in the wrong place at the wrong time. As they say, shit happens. Good luck with the wedding and fishing.

Radio silence from @Global Rescue on the Mexico situation. However they did post about the wonders of traveling in Canada since this post began. So, they are active on the site. You draw your conclusions and I’ll draw mine.

Jennifer at Travel Express can settle the difference and advise

These are some classic "famous last words" i would expect to hear from a sheltered liberal with limited real world experience.

I have some experience with Mexican cartels. You might be fine... or you might say the wrong thing or look at someone the wrong way.

Lol I had a long response typed out. But your mind is made.

I see you are from WA. Glad you think you are a cartel expert

Have a great evening,

From a sheltered liberal with no world experiences. :ROFLMAO:

You're wasting your breath.

I know I shouldn't have said anything, but I'm not used to seeing outright foolish posts on this forum. Most members here have traveled the world and have a firmer grasp on reality than people who only know what they've be told on TV.

I leave in 18 days for a occulated turkey, outfitter doesn't seem worried. He in the business of taking Americans hunting i have confidence that if something worried him he would reach out.

Situation in Mexico has been INSANE for more than a decade and it is well known to anyone who cares to look and listen, and anyone who crosses the border for any reason has to be insane as well. Cartels literally own every part of Mexico that is worth owning and control everyone from the president on down. There are not enough insurance resources in the world to get you out of there. Anyone who ignores all the warning signs and goes anyway might as well play Russian Roulette until the gun goes off. At least it will be over quick and your family will know where to find your body. If you have more things to do in this life before you die, then don't play Russian Roulette OR GO TO MEXICO. PERIOD. If you go anyway, don't expect insurance companies or anyone else to put their life on the line to come get you. The fact that rescue companies won't even go get you in Mexico should tell you all you need to know about MEXICO, and about depending on anyone to get you out of a situation you should have had better sense than to get yourself into in the first place. There are some things in life sane people just don't do, going to Mexico for any reason at all is on that list.

We were hunting on the US side of the border the day that they killed that cartel guy in Mexico. There was a steady stream of Border Patrol agents swarming the border area, more than I have ever seen, and I have seen a lot in the last 20 years. We got stopped by a Federal Wildlife guy checking licenses and tags. He told us there were plenty of javelina along the border wall road, but nobody goes there to get them. He showed us places on the map. We didn't go either. My hunting buddies/guides have hunted that area every year for over 40 years, but there are some places they won't go on the US side anymore.
