With the AK Arms coffin plate, iron-sighted rifle weighs 8 lbs 0.2 oz, with no ammo.
Scope and ammo gets it comfortably over over 9 pounds.
Perfect entertainment !
Just like a hockey game I watched Sunday on TV.

Mine is a working grade rifle.
Interarms Mk.X, 3-position M70 style safety and barrel band. B&C Medallist stock. Meopta R2 1-6 illuminated in QRW mounts. Lightweight and shoots well.

I've read a few articles on that rifle and I love it...

Oh ?
Encore interest ? Here comes some more.
#12 Encore-suppressed compared to #11 Hawkeye-no-can,
i.e., 20" Encore vs 21" bolt-action:

For the Encore with suppressor, weights shown in this post were with the old frame, blued action and old-style buttstock.
Currently they would be 0.5 oz lighter with the stainless action and new-style buttstock.

Note above "Forehead Relief" may result in 'Shockey Forehead":

Before moving on to .458 WIN MAG #10,
here is a consideration for single-shot shooters, whether Ruger No. 1 or TCA Encore,
added weight and balance effects of buttstock ammo carrier:

That McGee Paladin .458+ above is ALL business.
Very nice.
I could see that resting in a hand-crafted rifle rack in the corner of a camp dining room.

No. 10 was built by another member here who was gracious enough to be hornswoggled out of it:

It formerly wore Talley bases and rings with a Leupold 2.5-8x36mm (IIRC), bare of them above.
It slew all manner of plains game and an ornery cape buffalo for its former owner on safari in Limpopo region of RSA.
I am preserving the beautiful Sunday-go-to-meeting walnut, by dressing her (Hammerella) as below:

I liked that last one best, and took her like that to a game farm and downed a water buffalo cow and +500-pound boar hog.
Took home over a thousand pounds of meat. I am going to go eat some of it for supper tonight.
Water buffalo pot roast. Yum yum.
Cartoon below is BS. The right bullet in the right place causes minimal meat damage.

Along with my trusty Heym 88B in .458 Win, I have a good old bolt rifle in the same chambering, .458 Winchester Magnum
  • Voere Model 2165.
  • It has a 25" barrel
  • Weighs 9 lb 10 oz
  • Tang mounted safety
  • Extended, straight bolt handle (thanks to my gunsmith)

This is my Heym 88B .458 Winchester made in 1986.
  • 25" Barrels
  • Both extractors have dual pawls
  • Switch on forend to switch from ejectors to extractors
  • It always extracted or ejected all of the brass from the 750+rounds I've fired in her in my five years as her caretaker. Gosh know how much she was shot in the preceding 35 years!

Hi - the only (best) method of sending you the .375/06IMP data is with photographing my book notes. My camera died so the only way I can do it is with my phone. To do that, I would need your e-mail address, as this
new Android phone is too complicated to upload to my desk computer, which would be easier and to down-grade, reduce the file sizes.
Best wishes

Hey Steve, This is Steve Washington we met at KMG last year. I am interested in your Winchester. Would love to speak with you about it. I work third shift and I cannot take a phone with me to work. Let me know a good time to call during one of your mornings. My phone is [redacted]. Live in Florida so I have to account for the time difference.
Look forward to hearing from you.

Good day, Slider.

Do you by any chance have any 500NE brass left that you are willing to part ways with?

Best regards,
Boela Bekker.
