oh wow some swiss lovers on here I see. I was afraid that was going to happen..... I mean I secretly was getting you all to help me justify to myself that it is ok. But now that I am realizing that, I know this is going to be a big step for me to do lmao. My daily wearer is a Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean. I absolutely love this watch. I bought a bunch of cheap straps off of amazon to give it various costume changes, and would likely use one on a hunt to prevent scratching the stainless bracelet.. Although I do wear it everyday, I was always afraid to wear it on a hunt, especially in the mountains. But I always secretly wanted too lol. I think you guys just may convince me to do it. I was debating buying a Hamilton Khaki Field which is a great watch but far less expensive so I wouldn't feel as bad. But like @spike.t this watch I can even wear if the ocean rises to 6000 ft above sea level to reach me in the mountains, plus I have another 2000ft to go above my head and I am still good. I have not figured out the breathing under water part yet, but I will be able to tell time LOL

Dont be afraid to enjoy life and the things you have. Think of a scratch as a memory and a reminder of an adventure not a blemish.

That was my rolexs first house fire. Its seen about 10 more since.

Desert Dog just came out with a watch video.

I'm not a watch guy so I have little basis for opinion on this. I've only had one watch most of my life, a Tag that my parents gave me for my 18th birthday. I wore it lots of rough and overseas places for years, but recently decided not to wear it as much because I'd be really bummed if I lost it. I've also got a Swiss Army that belonged to my dad that I occasionally wear, but that also has sentimental value. Earlier this year I got a Timex Expedition for general use and as something in which I don't care what happens to it. They also seem to have good reviews for durability, but DD strongly disagrees. He says he's had a few fail on him. We'll see how long mine lasts. For ~$60 Canadian dollars and I love the look of it, I can't go wrong.

He has a number of recommendations ranging from Casio G Shocks to Hamiltons. He kept all his recommendations in the video under $1000 USD.

My expedition is 6 years old. Gets worn everyday in tough conditions. Been through the washing machine twice and still on its first battery

You don’t have to agree with or enjoy his particular watch choices to agree that he makes some great points throughout the video.

The last segment is very interesting. I’ve never heard of the “psychology of watches”

But, I have always believed in my own anecdotal evidence over the years. That on average a man wearing a watch is more self reliant and reliable. Of course never 100%.

I think the same about carrying a knife.

If you ask me what time it is or to borrow my knife. I instantly have suspicions on your reliability. You will most likely be a liability to me when extrem situations arise. The boat is sinking, there is a fire, an active shooter. Or as mundane as giving me 1st or CPR.

Of course I know people I trust my life to that don’t wear watches. But they are an exception not the rule.

Of course everyone has different experiences and belief systems. I’m sure all the non watch wearers here are 100% reliable

Makes sense to me

I dont lend my knives to others. Not since a camping trip years ago where a guy used a rock as a cutting board and thrashed my edge.
Asking to borrow a mans Guns or Knives. Is almost like asking another man to borrow his GF or wife.

I didn’t wear a watch for years due to the nature of my work… Heavy Industrial Steamfitter and Pipeline work. Welding and grinding sparks are tough on watch faces. And inherent risk of getting it snagged on something.

Casio G-Shock watches became my go to when I needed to wear one at work. Then cell phones came out and that fixed my issue.

Since I got into construction management I started wearing watches again,

I just love my Garmin Fenix 7 Sapphire Solar. It does everything. It was a gift…

While not in the same league as many of the timepieces here, here’s my latest addition, a Promaster that will see hunting service in 2026.

Automatic, durable, readable, accurate, ISO 6425 compliant, looks that are to my taste and a cool heritage link to the mighty Challenge of the 1970s - the Toyota Hilux of watches.

A lot of bang for the buck.

Congratulations on your latest purchase.

This piece took me back to when I was looking at a 200m dive watch and was considering the Tudor Pelogos FXD that has integral spring bars for use with a NATO strap. I've always found NATO straps very comfortable.

I try to be a watch guy, but it doesn’t work for me. I bought several, including some relatively high end ones. I don’t wear them for long.

I’m wearing the same no date Submariner I got new in 1969. Retail price was a hefty $180 US.

Just wanted to say thanks for the excellent customer service. Ordered some 9.3x62 brass and the delivery was a little short. An email through your website Contact Us link was replied to the next day with the tracking info for the correction. Good pricing coupled with great customer service will see returning customers every time. Thanks again!
