Good Gun Deals This Week

Not sure why link didnt post with photo.

Here are a couple pics of the rifle above from July with my 470, well now residing with another forum brother. If anyone talking to them about that rifle should ask and barter them down for the issues which while abated, are still slightly visible in places. Rifle appeared put into case with shotgun barrels attached wet, or wet case.

Such a good looking rifle and with 20ga barrels makes it about a perfect setup for tons of fun.

These are tiny little scaled-frame side by sides made in Turkey. They are not that bad for the pittance the cost. The 28g in 28" barrels is the most coveted, but is out of stock nationwide.

The 26" 28 bore is back in stock temporarily. They come in, they sell out in a few weeks, then they sell for 2x used on GB and GI for a year, rinse repeat. https://www.budsgunshop.com/product...by+side+28+gauge+26+3+dt+turkish+walnut+stock

The one I need to sell is better, more valuable, and less expensive than the one shown on GB. Although it is a nice rifle nonetheless. This fact in the ad gives me great pause "WITH 470 BARRELS 9 LB 15.7 OZ"

I don't like that the finish on the one shown is flaking off, that is something I have never seen on the more refined custom deluxe ones from the mid-90s to the early 2000s that were made for the US clientele.

The whole and sole reason I passed on that gun originally this summer was the corrosion issues…and also material factor being weight. The 470 I picked up (rifle on the right) was around 10lb 4oz with 24” barrels, so the one with the shotgun barrels being sub-10lb with 26” sounded like a pounder for sure.

I don’t think what is seen in the finish is a defect in production but poor handling and storage. The rifle was made for US market and Sells’ company imported, it was just stored very poorly and likely after a day of bird hunting or clay shooting in the rain. The loplever finish is gone where someone tried to clean up with steel wool I suspect. Looks much better now that it’s reblued, and the TiNi furniture on the shotgun forearm is cleaned up, as is the significant freckling on the receiver, but the gun clearly sat damp, likely sealed in a case for some time, I think with the rifle barrel too based on the appearance of the muzzle. True shame. Would love to see someone get this rifle and have Turnbull case color it…but can’t imagine anyone considering it at the present price. It was an easy pass at $23-$24k, and rebluing the top lever and buffing out the TiNi corrosion freckles didn’t add $10-$10k to the value.

It’s still a very nice weapon, but with the corrosion it’s suffered, its condition places it in a totally different category from your offering Rookhawk. Your rifle is in splendid shape and set up perfect for folks in this forum and far superior buy for sure.

Kind of you to say. I suspect many Heyms in substandard condition are being sold for top dollar for solely one feature: compression of time.

I’d hope as an altruist that we’d provide more value add to a transaction then shortening wait time.
 
I can not ever see myself pay $4000 for a rifle with a Tupperware stock irregardless of whatever glass it is wearing. Just butt a** ugly to me. Butt that is just me.

I have one of the Dickinson 28 ga SxS. It actually is quite nice and came with screw in chokes. They make a few different levels of options and finishes. The only issue is one trigger has noticeably heavier pull weight than the other.

I get it. To quote the great Duane Wiebe, “I did two synthetic stocks. I didn’t care for it.” . That being said, I have owned many Ed Brown’s (and still have 3-4) and they are awesome rifles. Same for Bansner and Echols etc. Heck, AHR and Satterlee synthetics are awesome.

I think I paid 6k for my CZ-550 in .505 gibbs - it was unfired which makes me feel a little bit better

Frankly, wait for a nicer one. It’s restocked and was likely in poor condition before being heavily reworked. The rework doesn’t appear to be done very well.

Here we are, the last day of the show in Denver, it's been a good show but expecting a quiet day today. I will be back for-sure to do this show next year and maybe also do the one in Sacramento California.

On Monday I will be hitting the road driving from Denver and eventually make it down to Atlanta for the flight home.

I have made it to Atlanta this morning, few other outfitters on same flight and our luggage never came trough, looks like mine will go via France to Denver hope it gets there before the ISE show starts on the 8th TOMORROW!
