Matswani or Cruiser Safaris

I've been corresponding with Pieter and Lizelle at Cruiser since February of this year. They're wonderful people. Heading there in April 2026 for my first PG hunt.
 
I went with my brother and Father @Shootist43 to Cruisers in 2016 for our first safari. Pieter is a real practical joker during my first range session while I was shooting off sticks, he filled my pant pocket full of gravel, on our first night there I fell asleep on the couch in the lounge, and they painted my fingernails red. We had a great time, the lodge is great, and the food is even better, plan on gaining weight if you hunt with Cruisers. As I recall the longest drive, we had to get to a different concession was 20 minutes once you left Pieters property. The hunting was great, we finished in 8 days, leaving us 2 days for other activities.

This being your first safari, I recommend you be very clear with your outfitter and PH what your expectations are and what trophy size you are looking for. If you are just hunting Plains Game, I would recommend SCI Silver or higher as your starting point. If you are planning on hunting Kudu with Cruisers tell Pieter you want a mountain Kudu, the kudu there are larger that his flat land ones.

So we ended up going with Matswani. We took a Golden Wildebeest, 2 Nyala, Kudu, Bushbuck, Impala, Zebra, Grmsbok and Sable. All were very old, trophy animals. Our PH, Saki was amazing! We had a great trip!!

I absolutely love the Sable nighttime photo. I also hunted with Matswani in April and had a blast. They were very nice people. Did you have Sagrys as your “lodge manager”(scarred face with red beard)? He worked his butt off to make our time incredible.
