What Watch do you wear when you hunt?

I'm sure this presumably Made in China watch is suffering from problems in translation. Not sure what "hunt" one might wear it.

I’m very pleased with this watch. I love the classic field watch look and it has all the features I wanted (stainless case, Japanese solar, sapphire crystal, and 100m water resistance). The model I chose also has a textured dial which I love the look of. It reminds me of the dial detail you see on some Japanese watches like kuoe. My only real gripe was a somewhat mediocre, recycled-leather (eco ;)) strap which I was able to easily, and cheaply, replace with the exact color nato strap I wanted.

I think this watch has better specs (solar and rated water resistance) and appearance than a Hamilton field quartz at a quarter the price.
Great looking set-up there. Adding a NATO strap is always a good move.

I had originally been looking at the seiko sport field watches but I didn’t like that they don’t use sapphire crystal. Then I looked at Hamilton and they don’t do self winding. Then I started looking at Vaers and I really liked their solar field watch but while I was looking into that I stumbled across this particular timex which seemed to check all my boxes with the exception of the strap, which is a cheap fix.

I just don’t get why seiko refuses to offer sapphire crystals in their mid range mechanical watches. I have two quartz seiko dress watches that both have sapphire and we’re about $100 each. So it’s not necessarily price. I’ve read that the hardlex crystal they use is pretty good but it still feels like a compromise.

Very nice and very pertinent @Kevin Peacocke ! Nothing superfluous and nothing missing. Now on to the next adventure!

Not in my experience. I wore mine for less than a year before it was chewed up. Its still legible but it's scratched up pretty badly.
Sounds like I made the right choice then.

It’s baffling. The cheap seikos have sapphire but everything from there is harldex. I was considering a cocktail time dress watch but couldn’t bring myself to buy one with the inferior crystal. I’ve even seen aftermarket sapphire crystals for about $100 or less but I can’t justify having to mod a watch that already costs as much as they do. It’s infuriating.

Bit of an update on this one...been wearing it for think 3 years now.....original post of it is way back and not trying to find it :E Big Grin: ....the original strap wore ...faded and frayed...the madam wasn't impressed..positively embarrassed I think to be seen with me with my watch having threads hanging off it and slightly coming apart....made me change it if we went out at night...so asked Bobby from on here who was coming out last year to bring me a nato strap..he brought out about 10 I think and said take your choice..liked this silvery one as went with the case...it has not exactly had it easy, but honestly can't see any marks on the case or glass..its tough...am impressed big time with it...I originally bought it as a stop gap as my breitling titanium seawolf was bit buggered and had to go back to the factory...needed new strap..glass and refinished case..came back like a brand new watch....it was at jewellery shop back where I come from, and as I was back for a week I picked it up and gave it to my son as his birthday day was when I was there..he into watches.....so the stop gap is now the permanent rough and ready one..

I have wanted a Ploprof for about 12 years, since I first began diving, and just found one in Zermatt under the shadow of the Matterhorn. It is their commemorative 75th anniversary edition in blue. It may go hunting with me…if I run out of bullets I can use it as a club!

An excellent AH member right here! I had a fantastic transaction with Hornedfrogbbq (I was the seller). His communication was first rate, payment was extremely fast, and I would have absolutely no reservations at all dealing with him again. Thank you, F!
Here we are, the last day of the show in Denver, it's been a good show but expecting a quiet day today. I will be back for-sure to do this show next year and maybe also do the one in Sacramento California.

On Monday I will be hitting the road driving from Denver and eventually make it down to Atlanta for the flight home.

its going to be a good year!

Hi Rem280, Saw your post on getting selected for Idaho Elk. Do you have a zone(s) selected? I live in N Idaho, might be able to offer some ideas.

Cheers,

Craig
