Aid to Zambia Cut

Correct, AND the communists have already had a taste of how Africa receives communism, i.e. Mozambique back in the day. The collective/community farms were not worked. Men had rather run off into the bush than work in a garden meant to benefit everyone. They will take from government, but not willingly give to it. I had thought the commies gave up after Moz and Angola. I think China is after minerals and raw materials, not changing minds and hearts....with probable ruthlessness ahead. Maybe China has some future "post-colonial" days ahead, as well.
Yep china doesn’t give two shits in a bag about changing any thing, they want and need raw materials, while we where pouring billions into Afghanistan the Chinese where building the Washan corridor to Afghanistan and Iran , they are willing to fill the power vacuum
With money and arms to the corrupt regimes , as the west runs around putting out fires globally, China plays the long game, for petroleum, rare earth, minerals

It's not just these funds that have been cut by US government departments. It's funds to The Nature Conservancy that went to support anti-poaching patrols around Kafue National Park in Zambia (and other African countries as well). It's funds to Conservation South Luangwa that is heavily involved in conservation and community support efforts in South Luangwa National Park and the neighboring buffer zones where hunting takes place. And its other areas as well.

I can't verify this information but I heard that over 70 ex-pats involved in conservation and healthcare charitable organizations in Lusaka and across Zambia were let go when Trump announced he was stopping all or substantially all US AID and related programs to foreign countries. I am aware from various relationships in Zambia that there has been alot of belt tightening across the country with how conservation funds are being spent.

Agree it's not a good thing but at what point does the U.S. spend itself in to oblivion trying to save the planet, when the dollar comes in trillion denominations? Then what? Zimbabwe V2.0? Africa is composed of a bunch of little children disguised as countries that can't get along without SugarDaddy bailing them out at every turn. They threw off the yoke of colonialism, only to become dependents on the bleeding heart liberals in the rest of the world who feel guilty because of their wealth.

I work for the non profit world in Africa, Have for 20 years, I have worked with hundreds of NGOs and I am not exaggerating when I say that 99% of of money if not closely watched or have some western control will be squandered. I can give many many many many many examples.

The author understands the reality that nothing is free. Just a question of who foots the bill.
The last paragraph needs to be read by every politician (not just in Zambia) advocating higher tax rates; they stifle growth as a disincentive for invention and entrepreneurial pursuit. Lower tax rates will actually result in more taxes being collected as people work harder when they can keep more of every dollar earned. A proven economic reality.

Got tax on turnover here now...so if you turn over under kwacha 5 million any income to your company is taxed at 6% , and payable the following month of it hitting the account or fines imposed on top...this is even if you don't make a profit.....couldn't believe it when accountant told me earlier this year. She had been at a meeting with other accountants and government tax people when it was announced...the accountants were shocked and asked what was going on....let's say the answer was blunt and to the point..but I won't be putting it on here.....

except for the last paragraph total BS. Africa needs a dose of reality therapy.
