Several months ago, I contacted Mark Biggerstaff and told him that I was looking for a left-handed rifle in 375 H&H, preferably a Winchester Model 70. He referred me Fatback since he knew him to be a "leftie." Fatback agreed to assist me in the search. My hang up was the price folks were asking for their rifles. I see right-handed Winchesters going for $1,800 to $2,200, while left -handed rifles were being offered at $3,000 to $4,000. After a while Fatback contacted me about a CZ 550 in 375 H&H that he had for sale. The rifle had been sent to Griffin & Howe to be tweaked. We agreed on the price, and I asked Fatback to refrain from mentioning the sale on AH since it was going to be a surprise gift to my son Art Lambart II. Last week the better half and I went to Kansas City to celebrate our grandson's Confirmation and naturally we had to do a little shooting. The rifle put three shots into one hole at the 25 yd. line, then three shots into one hole at the 50 yd. line using very old Winchester 300 Gr. Solids. I then told him to move the target out to 100 yds and try some of my reloads. The first batch with 71 Grs. of CFE 223 shot a little high, the second batch with 73 Grs. of CFE 223 put three shots into one hole (in the "x" ring.) We are very happy indeed. BTW I've added Fatback to my list of Super AH Guys to Deal With. Thanks guys!!

Those 2 guys are great people and a good example of why this forum is helpful to so many people. Proud to know both of them.

I am very glad it all worked out and the rifle will be used as it was intended. It was a pleasure dealing with @Shootist43, lots of great folks here on the forums. Looking forward to seeing some pictures of the rifle leaning on an old cape buffalo or something.

I was at the range with @Shootist43 and @Art Lambart II and can attest to how well the rifle shot. Both father and son were thrilled.

If you're looking for cheap AutoCheck reports, there are a few options that offer basic vehicle history details at a lower cost. These reports typically provide important information like accident history, title status, and previous ownership, but may lack some of the detailed insights you’d get from more expensive options. Some services even offer discounted rates for bulk purchases or subscriptions. While you might not get as in-depth a report as others, it’s still a great way to save money while ensuring you have the essential details before making a car purchase.
It sounds like you had a great experience finding the perfect rifle for your son, and Fatback really came through for you with the CZ 550 in 375 H&H. The rifle’s performance, especially with the accuracy at various distances, is impressive! It’s clear that Fatback’s assistance made the process smoother and more personal. Adding him to your list of trusted contacts is a well-deserved shout-out.

@Shootist43
Dang that CFE223 is a versatile powder Art.
You still need to load up some 250s to full throttle fire his Whelen or if'n you want to put penetrate that 375 with those 300s, load up some of those 35 cal hydro's to 2,900fps. They should ream a TRex out from stem to stern.

There are some fantastic people on here to deal with and Mark is one of them. Good to see we can now add another in @Fatback.

Here are some pictures of my 375. Without a doubt it is a working man's rifle. Empty it weighs 10 pounds 11 ounces, with 5 down and 1 up, she weighs 11 pounds 3 ounces.

Art, it is like I told you, CZ 550(s) aren't much to brag about, but at the same time are nothing to be ashamed of. Mine are all very accurate, and that is exactly what I want my rifles to be.

An excellent AH member right here! I had a fantastic transaction with Hornedfrogbbq (I was the seller). His communication was first rate, payment was extremely fast, and I would have absolutely no reservations at all dealing with him again. Thank you, F!
Here we are, the last day of the show in Denver, it's been a good show but expecting a quiet day today. I will be back for-sure to do this show next year and maybe also do the one in Sacramento California.

On Monday I will be hitting the road driving from Denver and eventually make it down to Atlanta for the flight home.

its going to be a good year!

Hi Rem280, Saw your post on getting selected for Idaho Elk. Do you have a zone(s) selected? I live in N Idaho, might be able to offer some ideas.

Cheers,

Craig
