The Curse of the Muzzle Brake

My only issue with the use of suppressors is that they can turn a finally balanced and maneuverable rifle into something more akin to a surf rod.
And if a rifle were build specifically with this in mind? I'm thinking the suppressor integrated barrels from the Blaser R8 line up, or on any switch barrel rifle, opting for a shortened barrel with a can as one of its possible disguises?

My point is that having a suppressor is beneficial for animal, hunter and bystander, so ethically this should be the choice to make when possible (on modern rifles I mean, not a 100 year old classic gun). Would a true master in gun build/balance/etc. not be able to incorporate a suppressor from the get-go into a modern rendition of a classic firearm.

There is another thread from a member who bought a K95, with threaded barrels. I wonder if there is not some way to incorporate a suppressor tastefully from the start, whereby the balance and lines are preserved maximally.

WOW, that had to leave a mark, and punctured eardrums ..

I got one on my new 7Mag when I was told it would greatly increase the accuracy from some of my buddies (fellow teenagers). I'll be honest, never could tell the impact it made when I was shooting. Then went to the range with a buddy that wanted to try it. I sat on the bench next to him and felt the blast when he shot. I can't imagine the force on a bigger rifle.

As I have made the change I notice the balance issue less and less. Aesthetically they aren’t a crowd pleaser but my rifles are more pleasant to shoot. Recoil is greatly reduced. My accuracy is improved. My 66 year old ears thank me.

Not with a Thunderbeast Ultra 5 Gen 2. I finally got my Gen 2 yesterday and it is significantly lighter than the Gen 1 which is awesome. I continue to be surprised how no one knows of this little gem of a suppressor. I just bought two in 6.5. Just because!
Regards,
Philip

Thunderbeast Ultra 5 Gen 2 is your answer.

I believe suppressor use is application dependent. Laying stationary doing varmint control is one example of how it would work very well. Having it on a spot and stalk hunt would be cumbersome, much like you said. However unsightly (in some opinions), a threaded barrel is required in nearly all instances of using a suppressor. Choose your application wisely.

I have a Dominus on order with them along with a GenII 338. Should be delivered by end of September. Then I can start the paperwork. Luckily the eforms are only taking me an average of 78 days for the last 4 cans that I bought.

I hope so. I just waited 14 months on this one that came yesterday.

Eforms have cut the time down dramatically, I do have a friend that is 150 days in on a wait. The bought 3 after those and they were approved in like the 82 day mark. For whatever reason it February is taking longer.

I did two SBRs on form ones 1 was less than 2 weeks the other was a little more than 3 weeks.

The reporter reminded me of this guy.

Looking at artillery at work with that blast, it makes me wonder how many foot pounds of energy that makes???

this video is awesome! lol...

@Red Leg
This is your expertise.
After long time in service for personnel serving in artillery, has there been recorded cases of hearing loss?
(i know today they use protection, but in history? )

What did you say? :E Lol:

Yes. Everyone who has served in artillery has hearing loss. :E Shrug:

Not sure…But, would it really be adequate for Buffalo?
Speaking of military calibers in hunting, I am not aware that even 50BMG had made it to hunting rifle.
I guess 700 NE or 505 Gibbs would be sufficient.:E Shrug:

I feel like I've seen a video of a guy shooting a giraffe with a 50BMG. If I remember correctly, he splits his forehead open with the scope. I could probably find it if I search around on YouTube.

EDIT: Found it.

Forgive me if this is the incorrect area, I signed up to this forum just now because I wanted to be on the list to purchase a copy of your autobiography. Please feel free to pass my information along to whomever is selling. Thank you so much. I look forward to it!
I like the Tillie in my picture. They are supposed to fit loose (2 fingers inside hat band), have mesh for cooling, and hold their shape after washing.
