Decided to get a .308 but can't decide between Tikka T3x, Savage 110 and Sauer 100.
If anyone has expirience with those or any other good 308 rifles I'd be very thankful since its my first .308 purchase.
Three options I stopped on mostly 'cause those are available/going to be available soon at my local gun store(so I can test 'em before buying). Going to be renting those to try em out on the range ofc, but any advice is welcome since you can't always know how good rifle going to perform on the hunt compared to gun range.

Budget is around 1000-1.500$ so keep that in mind. Thanks in advance for all the help and advice!

I have tikka t3, and have tested tikka t3x on noumerous occasions.
Both are good rifles.
T3x, is upgraded version based on market feeback of first version.
Upgrades are, aluminium recoil lug, replaced by steel recoil lug, plastic bolt shroud replaced by metal shroud, ejection port widened, to allow easier loading of single round from top.
Rifle is very accurate, expect 1 moa or less.
The stock of t3x is redisgned with more convenient anglevof pistol grip.

With other two rifles you mentioned I dont have experience to compare.

My experience with Tikka are all positive.
For the money they just work, but you have to be comfortable with both your choice and the fit of the rifle. A good fit makes for confidence, that will aid competence. Don't confuse the two.

I’ve heard great things about Sauer rifles, but Tikka is a rock solid choice. Another one in that price range is the newer Weatherby Vanguards. Their stock designs are unique, but it may fit you better if the others don’t float your boat.

Gonna check if I can rent one nearby, definitely going to give it a try!

I have been using a kimber 84m in 308 since I was about 14 years old and it has been a great rifle for me.

The Weatherby Vanguard are made by Howa but have a better stock and a few better features. For the money Howa are hard to beat as they are CNC machined to good tolerance s, but Tikka also have great quality control and just a different beast. Tikka might have a better pedigree and a little more respect.
Find a decent rifle that fits and buy good optics fit for purpose.

I posted another thread on an unusual project I just completed. The donor rifle in that project was a Bergara Ridge. It is an honest 1/2 moa rifle in its current configuration, but honestly was that accurate in its original stock once I had the links ironed out. I paid $800 for the original rifle.

Another vantage of the Vanguard is the rifling twist is 1-10”, whereas the Tikka is 1-11”. If you ever want to shoot long, heavier bullets, the faster twist may be advantageous.

Tikka or the sauer, the 3 position safety in the sauer is much preferred to the tikkas 2 that doesn't lock the bolt. The mauser m18 is nice for the price to.

Tikka. I have two centerfires, a 30-06 T3X Hunter, and a 6.5 CM T3X. Both are MOA or better (I glass bedded the wood stocked 30-06 to get there).

If I ever wear out the barrel on my (not Tikka) 308 practice rifle, I'll replace with another T3X. My 22 is also a Tikka (T1X).

I am looking at buying a third Tikka T3X In .223. They are new on Gunbroker for $650 shipping included From Europtic. This is the most accurate rifle for the money And has the smoothest action in its class. There are many, many custom accessories available for it now.

I recommend looking at Bergara. I have a Bergara 308 Win and it shoots sub MOA.

With your budget it allows many brands to choose from. Play with them at your local shop see how each one shoulders and feels to your body. Some have more options to change LOP and comb height so that may factor in as well. All the brands you mention have been good shooters for me. Good luck on you decision.

I've searched for the perfect all around rifle for last 5 years. From deer hunting in treestands, antelope in the planes, and backpacking elk. I had a remington 700, had a Kimber montana, had a tikka 6.5, had savage 308. I've since sold all of these after each season and bought a Tikka superlite in 30-06 and had the barrel threaded. Think i paid $900ish for the rifle and it just checks all the boxes. Its light, with supressor is mild recoil, action is smooth as glass, and is in a caliber you can find anywhere. I'm a true beleiver in Tikka after owning this second one. The regular t3 Tikka i had was smoother and shot better then its price tag for sure and couldnt go wrong with that either.

We still have Remington's, savages, henrys, browning, etc but the Tikka is my one and only hunting rifle.

I bought a Tikka in 300 win last year and have been completely satisfied with the rifle, Weatherby Vanguard would not be a bad choice either

That’s a healthy budget, and as others have said, the Tikka is the choice (assuming YOU enjoy shooting it). High quality, superb accuracy, and plenty of stocks and accessories available.

Not sure your price range. Have a 375 H&H with a muzzle brake. Nice rifle only fired a few times. Also a Mossberg 375 Ruger its been used and shows a few hunts on it.
