Decided to finally do some posting and not just reading on here!
Hello everyone my name is Stetson Hamilton I’m a life long resident of Colorado and big time hunter. I have been a full time taxidermists for 5 years now but over the last year have decided to close my shop and focus on a business that is actually profitable haha…(best decision I’ve made) I have been dreaming of going to Africa my entire life and I’m pleased to report that I’m headed to South Africa next June on my first safari! My goal was to make it to Africa by 35 but I will be accomplishing my goal 10 years ahead of schedule! I actually talked my soon to be wife into taking our honeymoon in Africa on a hunting safari, lucky me I’ve trained her well and she’s a avid hunter as well lol…. I’m also on my local SCI chapter and trying to give back and preserve everything I love so much! Here’s some of my recent hunts and some of my taxidermy work, even though I’m shutting down my taxidermy shop I still enjoy the art very much! Thank you for your time and reading my short introduction, cheers!

Beautiful trophies-was just checking today to see if I could attend the Colorado taxidermist competition-guess I won’t be seeing you there. . . But I very much look forward to a report on your adventures in South Africa coming up soon. Lots of pix! Glad you joined us-

Hello and welcome!

Giday Stetson. Welcome to the A H forums

Welcome to AH Stetson! Glad to have you join the conversation.

Welcome welcome welcome

Welcome,
What part of Colorado are you from?

Welcome to AH! Nice trophies! I live in the Springs.

Stetson, welcome to the AH forum! Great to see some youth in our midst! I can only wish I could have gone to Africa at 25. You won’t regret it other than it may make you broke the rest of your life because it is highly addictive.

Welcome aboard Stetson. You do have some fine trophies for sure. Your first photo is a 'two-fer." BTW what line of work are you going to go into? When is your "big day" and African hunt scheduled to take place? Have you already booked your hunt? If so, who with and for what? Will you be using your own rifles?

Hello sir! Thank you. I’ve been Investing in real estate part time for a couple years buying small Multi Family properties, I have transitioned into full time Real Estate, investing as well as sales. Hunt dates are June 7th-16th 2023 (going to be a long wait) yes I have aleady booked my hunt with African Maximum Safaris me and the wife will be after the Plains Game. Kudu, gemsbok, blesbuck, Impala, spring buck, oh and a bushbuck which is honestly most important to me. I will definitely have a budget while we are there but will try and be flexible aswell. We will be taking our own rifles, me a .308 shooting 180gr bullets and then I’m planning on getting my wife a new rifle not sure what to get yet though.

There are much worse this to go broke over haha! Thank you for the welcome

Stetson, unless you use them already, you will need to learn how to shoot off "sticks." There are several good articles on how to use them in the AH archives. The SEARCH function will help you find them. Providing your future wife can handle your 308, why not let her have it and get yourself something with a little more horsepower? ;);)

Good Afternoon,
How firm are you on your Dakota 416? I am highly interested but looking at a few different guns currently.

Best,
BJ

What is the minimum you would take.

I have a Chapuis 450-400 double that looks brand new and shoots well, never been hunted from what I can tell. I am willing to part with it as I have a 375 H&H Sodia on it's way from Dorleac & Dorleac. I am looking for $9,250 for it and if you are interested, I am happy to send you some pictures. Regards,
Steve
