Just got the email. Our trophys from April hunt are being packed as I type. Of course the invoices were included. I already knew what the taxidermy costs were, the suprise was shipping!!! $1,473.00 ----still need to fine tune it a bit, they were using Chicago as Port of entry, looking to use Boston

Ours were packed, crated and sent to the export/logistics company 1st of December. We were advised to wait until January to re-quote airfare to Houston as POE... Advice we were grateful to receive. Our quote was much higher than yours.

My crate was 115cm x 62 x 48 at 57 K kg. I know that the Taxidermist closes next week and doesn't open till after the middle of next month. I may do the wait and see game as well

A little bigger and heavier here at 112 cm x 113.2 cm x82.5 cm. We've waited this long, what's another month...

I didn't see my dimensions and know the volume of the crate controls the freight charges but my 88kg crate from Zim arrived last week to Houston. It was right at $2,100. About 30% higher than I was gauging say right before Covid.

Well talked to the wife at lunch, told her that my hunting partner’s wife was gonna freak out when she found out the shipping costs. Told her what mine were and that they had to requote because they had it coming into Chicago vs Boston. Got home after work and my wife told me that she was gonna pay the shipping and the balance of the taxidermy bill. Wahooo yes Virginia there is a Santa Claus

My flight only cost was $1370 into New York plus dip and pack. After payment I was told no flights available until after New Years.

Well taxidermist is paid. Got invoice from freight forwarder. $1,496.00 oh and all freight flights are booked till the 10th of January. Paid that invoice today, now it’s time to wait ………again. Man this is worse than buying a suppressor !!!!!

My friends and I decided to defer shipping our trophies until latter part in January. Safari Cargo Systems is nice enough to hold on to our crates until they get shipped in January.

Just for your reference my crate contains 4 shoulder mounts with actual weight 131 kg, volumetric mass 315 kg, estimated total shipping cost of $5400. The actual freight cost is $4400 and the rest comprises of insurance and other associated fees.

Congrats. Mine are done, boxed and actually waiting at the shipper. My hiccup is I have a buffalo. Delta is usually the best for me but they won't ship any of the big five so my shipper is working around that at the moment. I have some good pics from the taxidermist until then plus more than a few on the walls from the past.

You lucked out. MLK day is January 17, 2022. and air carriers and shippers are great for shipping on a holiday or holiday week.

1400 and change doesn’t seem too bad! Paid more than twice that back in June 2021, hopefully my shipment from my hunt this past May of 2021 will reflect the drop in rates although my crate will contain some bigger animals (roan and gemsbok) but it is amazing how much stuff they can cram into a crate!
