Who would or would not hunt with another member from the site

Would and did, kinda sorta. I was in camp on my first Africa trip with an AH member and his brother. While we did not directly hunt with each other, I'd have had zero issue with doing such. (y) (y) (y) (y)

I had a similar experience..

In 2017 we were in camp with another AH member.. Completely unplanned.. it just worked out that they arrived the day before we did and departed the day before we did...

We didnt directly hunt with them.. but it was great getting to know them and spend time during meals and by the fire in the evenings...

Dave... exactly. Over the course of the week and getting to know them, I would have felt just fine about hunting with them. It's nice to have two new friends in Mississippi.

I've hunted 2x1 a few times but much prefer to go it alone 1x1. On more than one trip there were people in camp that I would not want within a mile of me with a rifle. Every night the booze flowed like water at dinner and on into the night. I couldn't see how they could hunt anything the next day.

One day the whole camp, each group of those Europeans with their respective PHs and me with my PH went springbok hunting. Several of those guys had to back to camp for more ammo before the day was over--and they still didn't score. Luckily, they were in a different area from us.

I am very leery of someone I don't know waving a rifle around behind me or messing up my shot. Then there is the know-it-all who can't keep his mouth shut for more than a minute.

There are exceptions, though. From what I read here on AH, everyone is pretty savvy, competent riflemen, good natured(?) and of similar mind. Wouldn't hesitate a second to share a hunt with most any one ( if I could keep Bob Nelson from lauding the merits of the 243 Win. Just had to get that one in there, Bob.) And any of the outfitters who advertise and sponsor. If they weren't good they wouldn't last. The bush telegraph works fast.

I hunt 2x1 routinely... but my hunting partner is my wife... whether guided or unguided hunt we enjoy the time together and sharing the experience...it was awesome having her there when I took my buff 2 years ago... and I got as huge a thrill as she did when she bagged a red bearded rio turkey last year, etc...

That said, I dont have any interest in 2x1 hunting with anyone else... well known friend, long time hunting buddy, or not... there’s nothing wrong with it...it’s just not my cup of tea...

I rarely hunt with the same people, there might be one or two other people i have Hunted with but the rest are always new. My trip next weekend is another example. I have been invited by one of my mates to hunt with his hunting group. I have never met any of them, but have no issues with meeting people for the first time in the bush. So far all my hunts have been extremely fun and successful.

I believe the trick is not to expect anything (other than firearm safety) from people. This way you don't get disappointed or upset when people don't meet your expectations. I have a very simple motto in life that I live by, :to each their own.

This has served me well and i have had the privilege of meeting extraordinary people. Some i might not be best buddies with after the hunt, but for sure will hunt with then again.

Great philosophy Elton. People are generally great.

I’ve been thinking that I’ve crossed swords with IVW a few times, yet I wouldn’t hesitate to hunt with him if the opportunity arose. Should make for fun times around camp!

Jerome of course, I doubt many in the forum wouldn’t hunt with.

I don’t have any experience of hunting with other “punters” in a camp, domestically I hunt alone more than ever so it would be interesting to give it a go.

I am the guy you don't want but don't have a choice than to allow tag along and i am very useful.
I have help and read a lot about snake bite and attending to injuries, I am am good cook plus i have been shooting for about 40 years. And did i mention that i shoot better when i am drunk. hahahahah

I have made good friends on this site, would love to have someone along some time, but they need to love Land Rovers! And impala nuts for snacks, and single malts, and cigars.
Kevin, you can keep the Cigars, I am a reformed smoker.

But we did discuss shopping for a Pith Helmet if ever I get back over to Africa.

We can ride in your Land Rover and I will buy a some Single Malt for the evening s.

I might bring along our Famous Bundaberg Rum. It's not smooth like a good Scotch but it's great with a mixer. The aged and Blended variety are smooth but still distinct and unique.

These are numerous people on this site that I’m sure I’d enjoy sharing a camp with. I’m not a 2x1 guy, although if I had a kid or wife that hunted, that would be different.
I’d enjoy a 2x2. Share camp and most importantly a camp fire. Maybe hunt together some or part of some days.

I've hunted some wonderful places in the world and some of my best friends I've met in hunting camps!
The people I've met here have been amazing folks and in a 1x1 camp I think anyone of them would be fun!

I have quided hunts and have been on hunts with a lot of different people out of those excluding guided hunts there was one group I would not go hunting with again. It was not fun slandering women religion and throwing politics in for kicks. So I just sat one side and tried not to listen and was called the bore of the party which I really don't mind.

Anyways I go out to hunt to enjoy nature small and big things to see to learn more appreciatte more yes some crowds get loud but some of them are good fun but when combining two recently divorced men who hate their ex wifes and have a bad taste for life it aint fun anymore.

Last week on my hunt I spotted 3 new bird specied that I haven't seen before and except for the hunt itself that was a highlight. Camping in the west Free State in June is also good adventure when temperatures go below freezing all part of being part of nature.

As long as I'm hunting 1x1 I see no issue. But no way I'd sign up for a 2x1 with someone I never met. I'd probably never do a 2x1 with my best friends because africa is kind of a once or twice (hopefully) in a lifetime thing for my current budget lol. My wife doesn't hunt so maybe I'd feel differently about it if she did.
It's definitely cool to have friends in camp and also some people from god knows where to bullshit with around the fire.
