You think it cannot happen to you, but it can. Decades ago i was mauled by a leopard I luckily had a good doctor but getting home was arduous. Another safari I had a stomach blockage and almost died because the two doctors could not figure out what was wrong with me. A nurse saved my life. When Global Rescue appeared on the travel scene i joined immediately.

I won’t travel out of the USA without Global Rescue. Gives piece of mind when traveling to know that help is available

Cool!!! What's the going rate for a two week trip to South Africa? I'm heading there next July.

Thank you but I already requested info from their website and messaged them privately on here. I haven't heard anything from them so I figured I'd give this a shot LOL

@Global Rescue is usually very good at responding, we will inform them of your post.

In over two dozen hunts overseas I've never bothered with travel insurance. I looked into Travel Guard and they have 33 pages of exclusions--of which they won't send you until you buy the policy! I've never needed it, and while I understand I could, the money saved in the past hunts will easily pay for my evacuation. Insurance is great when you need it, but it is priced knowing the chances you will not need it. I would like to see the exclusions for GR to see what they will do so as not to pay.

For a two week plan for 2 adults, I was quoted $280 +-

You never know how good your insurance is until you need it. I bought insurance from USAA before my second trip to Kyrgyzstan. They used every trick...and the fine print.. to avoid paying for the exact purpose of the policy. A waste of money. Global Rescue, on the other hand, gives what they promise. Problems can happen at any age, but they are more likely to occur in older people, or those with pre-existing conditions. Whether or not you buy a policy requires a little self assessment (in addition to reading the exclusions.) Rovos Rail requires GR (or the equivalent) before boarding the train, and other tourist activities are following in this trend..........................FWB

Just do it. Getting home having to lie flat is very expensive.Your family will thank you!

Krgyzstan is a very very corrupt country and anything can happen. You would have to be crazy to go there on a Hunting Safari without at the very least travel Insurance. I'll be using Global Rescue next time I go there for sure...
