Hi!
My name is Doug and I'm from the Charlotte, NC area.
I've been lurking and reading here for a very long time and, as i have just booked my first safari, I thought i'd register to get the most of what the site has to offer.

Why BloodyKnuckles?
When i'm not hunting or fishing, i'm playing with old cars and motorcycles.
If you've ever had a wrench slip..... You know the rest. :D

Thanks,
Doug

Welcome to AH Doug! Congratulations on booking your first safari. (y) Nice to have you on the posting side.

Welcome to the posting side of AH.

Where are you headed?

Hi Brickburn.
I'm heading to Limpopo with Limcroma.
Not exactly sure how i'll wait 14 months without going insane but, i'll try..HA!

You’re in for a treat with Limcroma!

Welcome aboard BloodyKnuckles. Limcroma is a good outfit. Are you hunting with a rifle or bow? What are you going after?

Thanks.
I did a lot of research prior to booking.
I went to the Great American Outdoor Show and met with them.
The PH and I clicked immediately and I am very comfortable with my choice.
They have been very responsive to me, answering all of my "newbie" questions that I am sure they've answered thousands f times before.

Hi, I'm hunting with a rifle.
Main animals are Kudu, Impala, Zebra, Blesbuck and Warthog. Anything else that Africa wants to bless me with will be considered.

I'm just incredibly excited to have this booked after all the years of dreaming about it.

Doug, use the search feature to look for articles of interest. We have the answers to any and every question you may have. Get plenty of practice shooting off sticks. You'll be expected to use them in Africa. No need to use a centerfire rifle for stick practice a 22 LR or a 17HMR work just fine. That technique takes more than just a little getting used to. What caliber rifle(s) will you be using on your hunt? Are you going alone or did you book with a buddy?

Welcome! Practice shooting off the sticks and if possible take a few extra dollars along because you’re gonna see a big something or other just posing out there. Cheaper than booking another trip to go back and find him again. But one trip is never enough anyway. Good luck.

Thanks for the tip. I'll be taking my 30.06 and using 180gr. Barnes TSX bullets. It will handle everything i'm after.
I'm taking my wife along and we are going to do some sight seeing after the hunt.
I believe she will be very comfortable at Limcroma.

Hi John,
I agree, i'll be taking some extra in the event I decide to take something not on my list.

Giday Doug and welcome to the A H forums.

Welcome to AH

Bloodyknuckles (been there, done that many a time!), welcome to the AH forum! It’s great to hear your sweetheart is going with you!
There’s a park (can’t remember the name right now) not far from Limcroma with a number of the big 5.
Also I believe you will be near Thabazimbi well known for its mining history as I recall.
You two are going to have a grand adventure! I would almost bet on your trip home you will be planning your next Africa adventure!
Enjoy the planning as well as the adventure!
