For Sale Zastava LK M70 9.3X62mm Right Hand Rifle

I'm putting the 9.3X62mm Zastava LK M70 right hand rifle I purchased in 2019 up for sale. It's still Factory New, it's only been out of the box for photos. This rifle has a 560mm = 22 inch long barrel with European "pig back" style stock, and factory iron sights, and Mauser style controlled round feed action with single adjustable trigger and internal magazine with hinged floorplate.

Asking $700 (USD), shipping and insurance actual costs to be borne by the purchaser, to the purchaser's chosen receiving FFL dealer. If purchaser's receiving FFL dealer will not accept shipments unless from another FFL dealer, add $30. No sales to California as I understand things are difficult due to shifting bureaucratic requirements. No sales outside the USA.

It appears Zastava Arms USA is indeed the exclusive importer for Zastava firearms now, and 9.3X62mm isn't yet on their list of offerings they intend to import.

Same as the Interarms Mark X and Whitworth rifles. Safety is 2 position.

Zastava is Serbian...former Yugoslavia. the factory is in Kragujevac where they also make small cars. Actually visited the city in about 2002.

This was also sold as the Remington 798 and Charles Daly Mauser, except I've only seen 9.3X62mm in Zastava and Interarms Mark X labels. It's a commercial Mauser style controlled round feed action. Acccessories such as scope bases, bolt-mounted safeties, Timney triggers, etc. for commercial large ring Mauser rifles FN, etc. all fit this action. The safety is a two position side mounted thumb slide style rather than a bolt mounted wing style no scope clearance issues to deal with in this safety design. Traditional rich satin blued metal finish, oil finished walnut wood stock. M70refers to first year of production, 1970, no link with Winchester, also not the AK style Zastava M70 rifle, nor the .32 ACP Zastava M70 pistol. 1970 was a good year for new model firearms at Zastava. This rifle is not stamped with a warning label to read the operating manual like similar rifles (but not in 9.3X62mm) currently being imported by Zastava Arms USA, the current exclusive importer of Zastava firearms in the USA.

As this rifle is still Factory New, the purchaser is at liberty to use the break-in procedure of the purchaser's choice when first firing this rifle.

I’d much rather hunt with this rifle than drive one of their cars. I like the Zastava M70, they are a pretty solid rifle and easy to get into at 700 bucks, I can’t say the same about the car!

How do rifles from Zastava compare to say the CZ550?

I am sure most would say they are rough compared to a CZ, but you also hear many complaints about CZ's being rough and in need of work to make them serviceable. My .375 Whitworth has been flawless in operation since I bought it over 35 years ago.

Well it seems is was the same company, sort of. Zastava started as a cannon foundry in the mid 19th century and then started making Mausers. In 1904 a new branch of the company was established to make Chevy 1 1/2 ton military trucks. After the war the firearms plant returned to making sporting Mausers and light machine guns for the Eastern Block countries. The auto plant made Fiats on license. Eventually they made the Yugo, got bombed by NATO, and now they are out of business. It appears that operations have been completely separate since WWII.

After WWII the factory focused on military design Mauser style rifles and other military small arms such as their own copy of the well known German MG42. Semiauautomatic pistols based on the Tokarev TT33 were produced beginning 1957 (M57). Semiautomatic military rifle production began around 1966 with their version of the SKS (M66). In 1970 production was further diversified with the M70 sporting rifle based on the bolt action Mauser receiver long enough to accommodate cartridges longer than X57mm (M70) such as the rifle being offered for sale in this listing, their version of the AK-47 (M70), and a .32 ACP pistol (M70). There were also sporting rifles manufactured using the M48 Mauser style bolt action primarily chambered in 8X57mm but also other cartridges with X57mm or less brass length (including .308 Winchester and members of its cartridge family).
