Who is your preferred taxidermist?

Good replies guys

Communication and transparency of delivery dates are going to be paramount in my future taxidermy needs.
When Im told pictures will be emailed in a week...I expect those pictures to be delivered
When Im told a piece will be done before Christmas...I expect that promis to be solid.
Well Ted its done and how do you want it shipped? We can get you the final invoice and shipping costs if you choose to deliver to a commercial address its cheaper, You choice. Sorry pics have not been sent I'll dog them up
Thank you, Now we have to get all the previous African safari done as I pushed this ahead of them, they kinda been on hold. let me know shipping adderss on a PM will send the quote and cost Thank you again
Dennis

Ted Thorn, You got Full poses on ALL those african pieces and more deposit on the african things? You wanted those AFRICA pieces done over a few years "YEARS" and not all once for some Big Invioce . I worked with you on deposits when you were charged outrageous dip pack and ship into country fees, I only took from as deposit the COST of the tanning of the skins. nothing more and you wanted a couple pieces a year, I'm behind yes then you use the elk in front of of the safari and want HUGE repairs on points. No problem we do it, and then start comments, You have me on Facebook. This week my studio is re organizing the complete flow of work to help in this matter. Your elk is done and their are 2 sides to every story, a back story, I helped you out and worked with you when you blew up about your african shipping costs. Even drove your KUDU to you Free of charge 500 miles. Have a great new years, Message me about the address. crating now for juts costs as i do everyone , sometimes I crate for free.

I've used American Natural Resources in Griffith, In. for 8 of my 9 Whitetails. I must admit I was concerned about having African work done by them because I'd never seen their work. All of the Africa stuff in their shop was done elsewhere and for sale or in for repair.

After picking up all my animals this weekend I don't think I would go anywhere else ever. My capes were butchered all to hell by the skinners and it looked like the dogs were allowed to chew my zebra. The ears on the Oryx in my avatar were cut clean off. You really have to look at the Kudu to see where the slashes were stitched. I know there is finer work in the world, but I've never seen it in person.

Ted I remembered the one or two a year part of this from the past. Went back and looked for it but couldn’t find it.
This last comment seems like you just want to bitch in public.

Not at all
I tend to talk details person to person but if the details need aired here.....I can do that

I have every PM from two forums, every text, every email (sent, responded to and un-responded to) and every cashed check. I literaly have a folder on this but see no reason to lay it out here.

Well then PM me here , I just looked here now since your last you haven't about that shipping address. Commercial business location to ship to will save you money, If you want to ship elsewhere from your home address , that will be voice HUGE CRATE no little elk Thank you
Have a Happy New year.

I know his location.....Ive talked to him on the phone recently and a friend of mine has his world class bighorn there now. He just recieved his giant NV bull elk from him in October and he is dropping off two B&C Pronghorns with him soon.

My preferred taxidermist? ME. I learned long ago after having a disappointing experience. I have only myself to blame now:LOL::LOL:
Not in US but same as you "buck wild. I was taught long ago when best buddy who is a taxidermist realised I has the sickness, now many many mounts later I fully enjoy doing my own animals. Not at the level of other posters on here but most defiantly presentable. Another big problem is now buddies are saying hey can you mount mine?? Do not want to feel taxidermy is a business, for the same reason/issues spoken to on this site. I do glean tons of ideas, awesome pics, info to research and visuals from this site.

I normally use Jim Guist in Springfield, MO. He was the in-house guy for Johnny Morris at Bass Pro for years and then opened his own shop, everything he has done for me is fantastic. I have also used @gizmo, his work is great and he is clearly easy to get in touch with, you can find him here most days.

I will say, I am not really a connoisseur of fine taxidermy, I just don't have the eye for it like some. I want trophies done well, and in a way the will hold up over time, but the difference between very good and outstanding will mostly likely go unnoticed by me.

I have been to Jim’s studio and his trophy room next door. And he does return calls. He does really nice work. He too pretty much works by himself.

Used Conroe Taxidermy for my first two safaris and was well pleased with their work. Dennis did my third and when you compare the two Dennis’s finish work is superior. Dennis has my forth at the tannery and I don’t mind the wait.......I have a lifetime to stare at the end results.
