Blaser Rifles

Having to shoot LH I have been interested in a R8 for several years now. I just discovered the Marco Polo Outfitters is 7 mile from the hotel I stay at when I work in St. Louis, this could be trouble.
I'm dealing w them now. I like that the guy who owns the shop is a hunter, and knows the product. EuroOptic is good, but I'm dealing w a kid salesman. From what I can gather, prices are not fixed and there is good room for negotiation.

Yes, I would bought several guns from Euro. I have found I get the best “deal” when I buy from them at DSC. Discount, plus they call the order back to PA, so no sales tax.

Wife and I are going to Euro Optic on the 12th to discuss a rifle for her (no really, it's for her ).
How much of a discount by percentage are you talking about?

10% is what I was able to get on SAKO.

they said 10%. But I think, when buying a commodity you can get anywhere, that there is room. I have always found high-end gun mark ups to be all over the place and to someone who makes a living in markets, well, it can be fun.

After the initial purchase of my R8 and 2 barrel package elsewhere, Cove Creek has supplied me with a Safari Stock with kickstop, a .375 H&H barrel, a bolt and bolt carrier and a R8 Saddle mount. All purchased separately over time as finances earmarked for hunting came available and all with significant discounts of 15 to 20+ percent. Knowledgeable sales persons and 2 day delivery included. I have not found better sales/service or price anywhere else.

That's great to know. I'm finding pricing all over the place and your experience reconfirms. I'm stunned that a relatively high-end company like Blaser has such little control over the purchase experience. You'd think the retail channel would at least be 1/20th as sophisticated as the rifle.

On a related topic, where are people going to get good optics for good prices? I have bought CamerlandNY and SWFA.

Europtic again - fabulous sales. Also, it is worth prowling ebay.

I may be in touch to have you handle the final details of the Euro deal :)

LOL. You can't afford the commission! ;)

Gents - I'm just getting ready to pull the trigger on the R8. Leaning toward Swaro z6 and wondering if anyone has any experience w the scope? Thanks again for any and all insights.

You have lots of choices. You could go with the Blaser scope, which is made by Blaser. S&B sold and set up the equipment for them. S&B, Zeiss or Leica. My choice would be a Leica Magnus with a Zeiss rail mount. Not a fan of Austrian optics.

Been wondering where/how Blaser all of a sudden came up with an optics line.
Appreciate it.

Can you explain why you are not a fan of Austrian optics?

Dear all - I ordered the R8 this morning from CoveCreek Outfitters, and a Swaro z6 from CameralandNY. I should have everything by the end of the week. Many thanks to everyone for answering my questions, and sharing wisdom.

Gents - Any special seasoning needed for Blaser barrels? From what I can tell, the barrels are of excellent quality and it seems most people just shoot and go from there, but I've seasoned my Sakos, which are also excellent barrels. Thanks for sharing your wisdom.

I’m not much into the whole break in drill regardless of brand, but all of my R8 and S2 barrels have shot lights out from day one. None have seen anything bu Balistol, and remain super accurate.
