As the title indicates I wish to publicly thank Art Lambart SR, @Shootist43, and Art Lambart II, @Art Lambart II, for assisting me down the road to reloading. Starting back last Fall Art SR began the process of outlining the equipment and supplies I would need to undertake reloading for my Big Bore rifles and favorite sporters. He painstakingly assisted my wife in ordering everything I would need from multiple supply houses. My dear wife ordered everything as birthday, Christmas and anniversary presents.
Meanwhile I started to convert a basement storage area into a suitable work space.

Then the supplies started to roll in!

Then I started to clean up brass in 470 NE, 416 Ruger, 375 H&H and 300 WinMag.

And before the big day arrived I was ready to have at this adventure of reloading. Understand folks I’m just a dumb country boy so this really is an adventure.

Friday the 8th arrived and Art with Art in tow arrived at my house for breakfast about 8:30. Once we had some fuel for the engines the real fun began. All I can say is WOW. These two gents put up with dozens of questions from me and adjusted my equipment to the tasks before us.

You will love it. Some good friends there!! You develop a great familiarity with your rifles as you tinker with various loads. It's really not that hard. :)

By the time we broke for lunch all equipment was calibrated and we had the 470 NE rounds loaded. we started on the 375 H&H after lunch. When the guys left around five I had gained a very sound understanding of the process of reloading and many particulars regarding my Big Bore rifles. More work to be done and much practice ahead. Suffice it to say my AH friends, Art & Art, have given of their time to help me learn something entirely new.
Thanks Guys much appreciated.

I would agree its not that hard once you do it and with good friends to guide you it makes for a sound base of understanding!

Awesome.

Have fun Charlie.

Good job guys!

Charlie, your ammo bill may not go down, but you'll shoot three times as much...which is a good thing!

Yep that’s the plan. Now I can use the double a lot more!

Enjoy your new hobby Charlie! Sounds like a lot of fun. I have a few boxes of supplies passed on from friends/family and I have yet to take inventory and learn the details. I did it while in my teens with an uncle but that was long ago. With the cost of a new room and all your supplies for DG reloads I’d estimate it will cost you about $105 per round for the first 100 reloads. Lol. If you reload and shoot a lot the cost per round will come down quickly. . Enjoy

Looks good Charlie. Loading is a lot of fun. I always enjoy my time while loading. I’m sure you will to and it’s just as much fun discussing it with like minded friends.

Way to go Charlie! Welcome to the rest of your life, you will never be the same :D Your marital bliss is now certain to a) last forever or b) come crashing down around your ears! You will definitely be spending most of your time in the basement and your money on gun powder and lead. And now that you are all set up to reload, might as well have a few more guns, right?

Friends go hunting together. Truly good friends get a buddy addicted to reloading! Well done Art & Art!

That's great Charlie!! Kudos to Art and Art also!!!

Art & Art, you guys are great! Excellent examples for the rest of us in the AH community to strive to be!
Congratulations Charlie on your new set-up!

Well the good thing is that the Wife’s craft/scrapbooking room is across the hall in the finished part of the basement. She got the nice digs but I have made do with this area.

Yes have a few $$$$$ in it all so far but I’m really interested to see what I can load and use in the field. Reloading will allow me to practice a lot more for h7nting trips. Now that I have the basic stuff I can think about getting proficient with a pistol.

Awesome.

Have fun Charlie.
We had a good day Brick. I’ve hunted with these guys and been to the range to practice a few times with both gents and I have to say they are just GOOD PEOPLE!

Congrats Charlie, you´re lucky to have expert advice, as well as really good guys as friends.

I think it´s basic to reload for practice ammo, you can really save a lot, and keep that expensive premium factory stuff for the hunt.

Charlie, Art and I had almost as much fun getting you introduced (read addicted) to reloading as you did. The next time I come to your house and watch you do your thing it will be with a glass in my hand filled with two or three fingers of Kentucky's finest from that extensive collection of yours!!

Stout table top Charlie, welcome to the habit.
