RSM .416 Rigby For Sale

RSM .416 Rigby, YOM 2000-2001

I have owned this RSM Rigby for four years. I have fired approx 30 rounds through it during the first year I owned it at the range over several trips. It was cleaned, place in a Bore Stor, then into the safe where it had been until this past Monday. The rifle has never had a scope mounted to my knowledge. The only mark on the wood is on the heel just above the pad (next to last photo). I believe this mark came from hearing protection when firing the rifle.
I do not foresee myself ever hunting with this rifle. So I have decided to try and sell this rifle to start saving for my 2019 hunt which will most likely be in Canada, but haven't made a final decision at this time. My .404 is going this year for a buffalo and if I do go back to Africa, either my .300 HH or .375 HH will go for plains game again.

This is a standard RSM rifle. Circassian walnut wood, 23 inch barrel. 1 standing and 2 leafs on the rear sight. I do not have the box or rings. The rifle will be shipped in a gun sock inside a Plano style case through UPS. Since this rifle is from my safe, Wildman Arms is not associated with it at this time. If I haven't sold the rifle by August, I will place it in their gun room for consignment.

If I could handle a 416 Rigby, I’d get this. Unfortunately I didn’t do well with the ones I have tried including an RSM. Just too wimpy I guess.

Definitely one of the better RSM rifles. You'd be looking a long, long time to find another as nice. It even carries the NECG front white bead.

SO tempting, my friend, just so tempting. I'll hold off this one, pending the arrival of the No 1 (still in the hands of the bureaucraps) and piking up the 9.3X64. I mised out on a No 1 in 00 Nitro Express a while back; now THAT would have been interesting!!!

Don't know the answer to your question but the .458 Lott has only one cross bolt also.

I would think model would have more to do with it than caliber Perhaps better wood? Puzzled

@jacques smith On the 375 and larger RMS they have a second recoil system/ lug forward on the stock under those two screws forward on the stock. The barrel has almost an quarter rib running up to the lug that fits down into the stock. It is hard to explain with out seeing it, but the system works well.

Mine in .458 Lott has only one as well. I sent it up to Wayne at AHR for a bit of work earlier this year, and asked him if he should add a second cross bolt. He said the RSM didn't need it.

The RSM have a unique arrangement when it comes to recoil and cross bolts etc

Not long ago I converted an RSM to 450 Rigby
The connecting strap from recoil lug forward intrigued me
But it works for sure

Been looking for a lefty 416 rigby for awhile now. Seen a dandy Dakota that I regret not buying. Seemed steep at the time. Regardless good luck it’s a slick rifle

The front cross bolt is generally sufficient to prevent splaying (and splitting) in the RSM. It hasn’t to do with the front lug’s location in the fore end so much as it does the general beefiness of the stock through the action.

Wishing I had the chips for this rifle. She’s definitely one of the better examples of the RSM and is obviously chambered in a highly desirable cartridge.
