Bought myself a Safari 70 375H&H. Any advice on what size scope and make I should have fitted on it. Thank you.

What are you hunting with it?

You'll find a lot of Love for that caliber on this forum

Leupolds are very sturdy scopes....the optics are not as good as certain german/austrian/jap scopes, but this is rather irrelevant as long as you do your hunting in daylight..

I must admit to have a S & B scope on my .375H&H....but today I would have chosen a Leupold...and I do have a Leupold on my .458Win..

Congratulations @Yaseen to the feature in Gun Africa. I got a copy of the magazine yesterday at the EC HuntEx and remembered you from AH.

Congrats on the .375 H&H as well.

I put a Leupold VX 3 on my 375 and I like it a lot. I have a VX 6 on my 416.

I put a trijicon 1-4 on it. It is a good scope and was fine for African plains game. But the 375 is so flexible that I would probably prefer a 1-6 to be honest.

Seems that Leupold is phasing out the VX6 and replacing them with I believe a VX6 HD. You can fins the VX6 for sale at various vendors, I just bought one from Natchez for a 375 project that I am doing. Cause the .375H&H is such a flexible cartridge I purchased a 2x12x42 VX6 with a Fire Dot reticle. May be too much but I will let you know when the project is finished.
If you want something period I have a Redfield Bear Cub fixed 4x doing nothing.
Good Luck Good Shooting

Ok the 375 is so flexible that you'll get all kinds of scope opinions I use kwik release mounts on my 375.
I plan to use my 375 loaded with 250g bullets for plains game, sighted in a 250yds I use a 6x18 Leupold (maybe a little overkill) but I'm gearing the Rifle for the area I plan to hunt, if the need arises for close work I'll use my open sight which is dialed in at 50yds

I have Talley QD rings, for irons I have a NECG see thru rear and a green fiber optic front a combo that is on three other large bore rifles

Yaseen, great caliber choice! I have two scopes for mine both Leupold in Leupold quick release rings. A 1-6 VX6 sighted at 100yds using Barnes 300gr TSX for DG, Cape buffalo and the second a 2-12 VX6 CDS sighted in for 250gr Barnes TTSX for plains game up to eland, or maybe giraffe. Both have FireDot reticle. I will be taking both this year when I go to Africa. My primary will be the 1-6 and use the 2-12 as an emergency backup.

Also, I'd suggest before the scope goes on, pick your 300 gr DG load and sight it in for 100m (should also be on at around 50 m). That way if something serious happens to your scope in the field, you can remove it and you are good to keep hunting.

Just a thought and congratulations a a great gun and cartridge combo!

I've always had good luck with Sierra Game Kings but they seem to be the Red Headed Stepchild on this forum

The 250 gr Sierra is my favorite standard production bullet for both the H&H & the RUM; however since I must select just one for hunting big game, I have a supply of 250 gr Bitterroots that I use. Since Bill Steigers has passed to the happy hunting ground and BBCs are no longer in production, if /when I use up my supply, the Sierras are my next choice. While I'd use something different for dangerous game, they do a great job on prey animals.

For DG I have my CZ in 404Jeff fed by some 400g Swifts

Depending upon primary usage..... on my 375 H&H, it wears Leupold VX-3, 3.5-10x50.

Some folks might say I'm an evil bastard for not favoring variable power optics.
But, I've had very satisfying results with only a 4x scope (Zeiss) on my old Mauser, in caliber .375 H&H.
It is mounted with Alaska Arms brand lever rings.
And, in the unlikely event I smash up my scope, I plan to rely on the iron sights as my contingency plan.
Also, I prefer some of the Austro-German scopes, over many other makers these days (goes for binoculars as well).

Hi Dr. Ray, I will be in Cooktown from Oct 16 to Oct 23 fishing Lizard Island Black Marlin Tournament.

I have several "slack" days after fishing before I head for stay in Sydney and Fiji.

Do you have any recommendations for 1 or 2 day hunt near Cooktown?

I've hunted both DG and PG in 4 different countries in Africa.
Thank you,
Bob

Good morning. I see that you had a Sauer 202 for sale for $3,000. Did you sell it at that price?
I have one for sale as well. I listed it (on here ) at $3,000 as well. Is the price high, low or right where it should be?

Thanks. Alex. [redacted] in case you want to call me to discuss further. I appreciate your time help and support.

Dave, I could use both of them if still available. I just picked up a new .22 mag and a .22 pump that they would be perfect on.
