SOUTH AFRICA: Hippopotamus Hunt With Pawprint Safaris 2017

I too have the Pelican suitcases, actually I have lots of Pelican stuff, but the weight can be a problem flying. Now if I just had a business class ticket......
Regards,
Philip
Yea the one I have is like 22 pounds before I put anything in it! But I don't worry about anything getting messed up in it.

@Shootist43 , was locally made PMP 180 gr. @CAustin I wouldn't want softs for a charge, I had my 458wm with solids between my legs. Best thing, listen to your PH.

Roger that Simon on listening to the PH. I have every confidence in Pieter Erasmus and his back up rifle.......500 NE "two pipe" as his skinner Steve says.

I'm glad to hear that. Both are good loads, if I didn't reload my own I would certainly consider using them. I know range time has been hard to come by and was curious as to how they group out of your rifle?

I just re-read this entire thread. The answer to my question re. group size was posted about 6 weeks ago. Sorry I didn't remember that. Based on that group size, all you need now is an obliging Hippo.

For sure! They are the most amazingly durable cases. The only problem I had is the locks. I got a large one and a carry on sized one in blue when they first came out and both locks failed. I'll never forget the nice TSA agent in Columbus OH who found a TSA key and unlocked my bag! The combo lock just would not open. Now they seem to work but still worry me after that incident. I love Pelican so much that I am willing to over look a problem like this.
If we could afford a business class ticket then we'd get 75 pounds per bag allowance! Maybe next trip.....
Regards,
Philip

Right there with you Philip. I bought Delta comfort this trip and I have applied two world upgrades but will most likely not know if I got them until the day of departure. So I am trying to keep my checked bag below 50#. But I have my carry on and if need be I will fill the old back pack!

Let the real count down begin! 30 days from tomorrow I will be headed to My favorite hunting destination.
Anybody on a Delta flight 200 on June 6th headed to. Johannesburg RSA?

@Pawprint Safaris are you ready? Doesn't matter I'm coming anyway and I just might stay!:P Elmer Fudd:

I also got Comfort + for this trip. It helps!

Art.......Pieter promises a hippo but nothing on the obliging side of things.

Folks.......for those of you who have hunted hippo was there any particular portion of meat that was suggested that you eat? If there was how did it taste?

Under belly ground up is fantastic. Close to prime bacon.
