I'd posted this previously with some lousy photos, then decided to keep it for Africa this year...but then I got a glorious vintage .318 WR take down for leopard and don't need this .404J any more.

Lets see what I can tell you.

Its built on a new Kimber platform that cost over $3000.

Unfired minus having the sights regulated by the gunsmith. 99% condition with minor knicks due to being bumped in the safe.

Controlled Round Feed

.404 Jeffery

XX French Walnut Stock

Custom two level leather and brass fitted safari case included.

Approximate replacement cost of $9,860.00

Made by American Custom Gunmaker's Guild master, Dennis Erhardt.

Engraving by Firearms Engravers Guild of America master, Jerome Glimm.

Includes 3 boxes of new Norma Ammo. 3 boxes of unopened Hornady (Norma) .404J brass. Includes Hornady dies and shell holder.

Email or PM for more information or call 847-833-one four two two

Willing to sell for about half of replacement cost. References available. Email for many high resolution pictures. Face to face pickup available in Illinois, otherwise will ship to your licensed FFL. FOID card required if an IL resident.

I'm asking roughly the cost of the factory original gun parts plus the ammo, brass and dies! You'll not find another gun made by Dennis in this price range, ever.

It's beautiful! What is the cost, that you are selling it for?

According to the advertisement, he's asking 50% of $9860 which is $4930. It appears to me that this is the same gun offered in October for $4155.; but maybe something else is added.

Beautiful rifle sir!

How has nobody taken this rifle yet????

Would have Taken it in a heart beat if I could.

GLWS!!

Beautiful rifle at a very good ask.

Now $4700

Gun. Custom leather and brass case. Several boxes of new brass. Several boxes of new norma ammo. Talley QD Rings. Talley Mounts. Oil bottle and other odd case accessories. Dies. Shell Holder. Basically, about $10,000-$12,000 in stuff and about a two year wait or more to have the gun reproduced. I've appreciated all the interest but I don't want to trade, do long term payment plans, let you get the brand new unfired gun and "try it out", etc. Cash. Cashiers Check. Money Order.

Beautiful rifle! If I didn't already have a .416 Rigby and a .470NE I'd jump on this.

No doubt, it's a great buy- unfortunately I've got my mind set on a double and the more I look the more I'm inclined to keep up the search for a Heym 470 NE.

Well poo, I was going to offer a hunt plus taxidermy in trade but I see your not interested in trades.

Still available. $4700 + shipping.

For the price of the action in the white, brass, dies and ammo, you can have a custom built rifle that would easily take $10,000-$12,000 and a two year wait to have built today.

Sold pending funds on another site.

Congrats! One of these days I'm going to have to buy one of these fine rifles you keep posting. Just not now, while I'm stuck in gun-free South Korea.

Well, I don't want to say never but I'm not sure but how much more collection I'll be selling off.

I have two other guns for sale and *maybe* will add a third if I find the right Rigby smallbore as an upgrade.

I've downsized my collection to my working guns for Africa in primary and backup while adding some guns for the kids. A shadow of the former collection I once had. More hunting, less guns has been the theme as of past 7 years.

Never forget, no one in history killed more game than Lord Ripon and he went through the wealth of a viceroy in the process dying nearly penniless from his obsession. He had three identical Purdey shotguns and a few rifles! :)

If at the end, I'm penniless, but had a life well lived, filled with adventures and excitement, I will die a content and happy!
