I see on the news a 5.7 quake centered 10km deep near Lake Victoria- so far 11 have been killed, nearly 200 injured. a lot of buildings collapsed.

@Wheels did you hear about this. Not so bad given those you have been getting in OK of late. I felt the one last week all the way in a Overland Park!

Heard about The Tanzania quake yesterday. Opposite side of the country. Communicated with a couple of people and they felt nothing. The eclipse last week was the big news there.

havent felt a quake since we left calif, and dont miss it.

Funny wheels!

Well my mind sure went somewhere else with that Royal. Who knew that eclipse viewing would be great from the national parks over there!

Charlie,

You will almost be setting under the best total eclipse our hemisphere may see in the rest of our lives next year. I will probably drive to Missouri to see it if the weather looks to be good.

Yes he could! Didn't know you guys studied the heavens! My dad was always fascinated with the planets and stars....so much so that one year we all pooled our Christmas money to get him a telescope!

Anything to make a buck.

Want to see the Northern Lights? It's a huge industry. I just walk around and take them for granted when I am out and see them at night.

I'm not really into it that much. My brother-n-law is. He went to Hawaii in 91 for the total eclipse there. He has been talking about the 2017 eclipse since then, saying it would be the best in our lives in this hemisphere and that he was going. About 10 years ago, I said I would go with him. Probably headed up 44. May head in your direction if the weather looks bad towards the east. You are nearly right underneath it. Royal is too.

Appreciate it.

We will probably just make a long day of it. Go, set around for an hour in the dark then go home.

Thinking about it, it sounds kind of boring doesn't it.:D

No not really! That path you posted looks like Columbia, Mo would be great as well as Springfield, MO

I'm unfortunately on a diet. Presently in VA hospital as Agent Orange finally caught up with me. Cancer and I no longer can speak. If all goes well I'll be out of here and back home in Thailand by end of July. Tough road but I'm a tough old guy. I'll make it that hunt.
