Agreed. She deserves the utmost respect from all of us. It's ok to agree to disagree on things. As @Doug30-06 said she lived the life for many decades and was a huge contributor to conservation. RIP Jane.@Doug3006 Likewise.
And, like old George Adamson, there are a lot of former (and current) PHs who called her friend and supported her efforts. I respect her work a great deal.
The good news is that Bill never passed and is now not even on the Order paper.![]()
Everything You Need to Know About the Jane Goodall Act
Currently working its way through the Senate to (hopefully!) be passed as law, the Jane Goodall Act is a landmark piece of Canadian legislation that would create some of the strongest protections for animals in captivity in the world. Here’s everything you need to know: The Act will: The Act has...janegoodall.ca
This effectively banned all imports of sport hunted elephant and rhino trophies into Canada, even from countries where elephant populations are well managed (and often over abundant). This was a unilateral move by the (liberal) Canadian government with no consultation whatsoever with African countries. Grandstanding and virtue signaling at its best.
That being said, I respect Jane Goodall for who she was and what she accomplished.

I don't want to go too deeply down the rabbit hole, but the Jane Goodall Act (Bill S-241) never passed and is (effectively) dead. So is Bill s-15 a similar piece of legislation.Hi RLD,
I wish it hadn't passed, but it did. It was implemented in early 2024 through the Wild Animal and Plant Protection and Regulation of International and Interprovincial Trade Act (known as WAPPRIITA) by the creation of sections 12.1, 12.2 and 12.3 of the Wild Animal and Plant Regulations:
