Politics

Kimmel blatantly lied and was gaslighting his audience by claiming the assassin was MAGA. His parents may be republican, but the shooter transformed into a radical leftwing nutjob.
The media needs to be investigated and held accountable. Free speech is one thing, lying is another.
That's the problem in this country. There is no equal accountability.

It sounds like the gunlaws overhere. I read that in some towns shooting an airgun within citylimits is a felon. I think that was in Colorado. The freedoms are tightning in small turns.
Yes. Frog in a pot of cool water sitting on a stove… incrementalism.

I agree that a business decision is what happened. I disagree that the FCC did nothing. When the Chair publicly mentions that an on air content might be investigated that is notice to a business. If they are going to investigate they should do so without comment.

I have no problem with business decisions. But I don’t think anything Kimmel did warrants FCC action. Any more than the thousands of Lewinsky comment and jokes made by Kate night hosts did or any of Carson’s jokes about Reagan or SNL bits about every single President.

I believe FCC should only take action in very extreme cases this was far from that. And I believe that the business decision were influence by the public comments of the FCC chair because they are pursuing an acquisition that requires FCC approval.

That's a fair assessment and could have some merit.

I think the easier conclusion was he was losing the company money, made a stupid comment, and refused to say sorry.

Jimmy is not a Journalist. He’s an entertainer. He can be fired for saying anything that his superiors don’t want him to say or anything they don’t want him to do. The 1st Amendment doesn’t apply to businesses, only to government.

Why do the TV networks employ entertainers that alienate half the population? Stupid way to do business. They would make more money from advertisers if they had larger viewership ratings. Carson and Leno were funny without going political. The networks need to get back to entertaining us ALL!

First, I agree. However, it has been that way since Cronkite. Fox News also caters to just half the country. Heck, one of their guys just recently advocated for killing all the mentally ill homeless, he later apologized, but did not lose his job.

You soulless conservatives cheering on what happened to Jimmy Kimmel haven't stopped to think about Jimmy's wife and children

They now have to spend more time with Jimmy Kimmel

No one deserves that

@Nyati posted this on the "Lighter Politics" Humor. This is the best Meme I've seen in quite a while.

Below is the take from 1440.

Does anyone use 1440 as another information stream? It appears to be less biased than most.

Kimmel Fallout Continues
Sinclair Broadcast Group, the nation’s largest ABC affiliate owner, outlined demands yesterday for “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” to return to its stations after the host’s remarks about the killing of conservative activist Charlie Kirk. Kimmel suggested Kirk’s killer came from the MAGA movement, though prosecutors later indicted a suspect whose views were described by family as politically left-leaning.

Sinclair said the comments crossed its expected professional standards and called for Kimmel to directly apologize to Kirk’s family and contribute financially to both the family and Turning Point USA, the group Kirk founded. Sinclair also requested formal talks with ABC executives about ensuring accountability in network programming.

“Jimmy Kimmel Live!” averaged 1.77 million viewers and led the 18-49 demographic with 220,000 in the second quarter of 2025. Late-night ratings have declined overall, however, with similar shows trailing leading podcasts in younger audiences. Sinclair said it will run a televised tribute to Kirk tonight in the late-night slot.

The uproar about Kimmel is predictable and totally expected.
The thing that is so entertaining to me is all of the people that are so outraged are the same people that would go back years on people’s social media and find something they didn’t like, organize boycott s of companies they didn’t align with politically and get people fired like Rosanne Barr.
Someone pointed out yesterday that Kimmel shed tears for cecil the lion but made a joke about Mr. Kirks cold blooded murder.

The USA has labelled both Canada and the EU as threats to their "National Security" in order to justify new duties declared by their military Commander-in-Chief on the international trade of steel and aluminum. So I suggest that USA made products such as firearms and ammunition should be sold exclusively within the USA so Canada and Europe can help our esteemed neighbour defend themselves and improve their national security. Sadly, I have come to the conclusion that Canadians and Europeans should make do with their own products exclusively. For all our AfricaHunting friends in Canada, Europe, Africa and elsewhere, please don't buy any American made products. Lets's support the USA in their concern. One can never be too careful when there are evil guys to deal with, and it is our duty to help, as always.
Tit for tat, huh? As the only arsenal of freedom in the world, the US must maintain adequate manufacturing capabilities to meet the needs of an immediate war. The US can't rely on another country for this. US industrial capacity has bled out to other countries over the years, many of them hostile to us. It really is a matter of national security.

Most European countries are reliable allies for the US only when asking us to intervene on their behalf. Canada has taken advantage of far too favorable trade terms with the us. Finally, the political rhetoric and internal actions of these countries are getting to be somewhat anti-thetical to ours. I think, for example, that many European countries will side with arab countries over the US if push comes to shove. Individual freedom is under stark attack in those countries as well.

Fox is a political channel and everyone knows that. If they fire or keep someone, it’s up to them. The big three networks have been around much longer and are not advertising as being political. They should be entertaining us all, not one side, if they want to be profitable.

Actually, most of the programming is entertainment of all NFL, NBA, various TV shows, sitcoms etc., etc.. Now, late night not so much. However, viewership of that format has been falling for some time now.

Who asked whom to join them in Iraq and Afghanistan?
