Politics

Just saw this on Gutfeld. Who knew? Simple cards can save the day. :ROFLMAO:

I was raised in a Catholic family. (Born-again Christian/largely Southern Baptist my whole adult life) I don't get why the Catholic Church doesn't throw him out on his ear, so to speak. Soooo much of what he supports flies in the face of Scripture. We are all sinners and fall short of the glory of God, but there is nothing Christian about his public witness.
You said that perfectly. I think a Bishop said something on Easter. But why doesn't the Pope do something?

...

As a non-Christian, I must say that even I had to do a double-take when I saw this. Unfortunate timing indeed…
In all fairness, since 2019, March 31 has been declared as the Trans day by Biden. It just happened that this year it fell on Easter. Sometimes a cigar is just a cigar, no need to read much into it. Yes, the optics of it is unfortunate for all parties involved.

I have two gay brothers, and we've talk about all this crap. They hate it, and the majority of them do not like all this publicity. They are private individuals who do not want to be in the spotlight, they want to live their life like any other citizen. Our government seems to have a hard on for all these events. I guess it is a way of getting votes.

BOLO. :) About a month ago I had the opportunity to drive around a big city in SW US. Saw a massive group of “warehouse looking” buildings near middle of city in a light industrial zone. Next to this complex was a large, attached power electric substation. A brand new data center…an AI hub I imagine. Big tech is perfectly happy supporting the politics of “hoax green energy” while at the same time having all us little people subsidize and pay for it. Old jet engine turbines or worn out rail diesel electric engines are not going to supply this energy sucking monster that is growing and hiding in plain sight.

More on Israel’s attack in Syria…

From the article:
Monday’s strike is in contrast to the U.S. response after Iranian proxies killed three Americans near the Syrian border in January. The Biden Administration leaked news of its retaliation in advance, giving Iranian commanders in Syria ample time to flee. Not this time.

"Warehouse looking buildings" in light industrial zone with a new power station. That certainly sounds suspicious. Who knew. Had there been a black helicopter we could have been certain.

Those sorts of readymade office, floorspace, storage and transit hubs are going up everywhere. I can think of a dozen in the greater Austin area. I suppose an AI hub (?) could be housed in one, but these are filling with businesses with large shipping and or storage requirements.

These are typical. Many are supported by new substations.

Far more offensive to Christians is that any reigous symbolism was banned. That one cannot be explained away.

BS! Don't start that conspiracy theory, everyone else is wearing foil hats, crap again! I researched what it was and it is a new data center. NO it is not a simple bank of servers. It is massive. That power substation could supply a small city. The substation is attached to the main power grid. The substation was built there, on site, to supply the data center. Dollars to donuts that data center is as ESG, politically, as they come.... may even be a subsidiary of Google that proudly states in their search page they have been "carbon free" since..... Google has been using AI in some form for years, somewhat of a beta test I would guess and no one has been paying attention. Get ready, the election season is just starting to heat up.

Actually, it has been that way since 1976. I am not a supporter of Biden or his policies. However, we also need to be fair about casting blame.

From the article:

"The American Egg Board has been a supporter of the White House Easter Egg Roll for over 45 years and the guideline language referenced in recent news reports has consistently applied to the board since its founding, across administrations," American Egg Board President and CEO Emily Metz wrote in an emailed statement.
...
The contest is new, but religious or political themes have been prohibited for every White House Easter egg event since at least 1976, when the American Egg Board was created. As a federal commodity program, the board must adhere to federal guidelines that require it to stay neutral on politics and religion; programs or activities cannot be seen as lifting one religion or set of beliefs over others.

Industrial / Logistics Real Estate is growing at 7% whereas most other real estate sectors are flat or negative growth. How much power consumption occurs from Logistics real estate in the USA? About 15-18% of the US Grid.

It's a pretty simple reason why this is the case, nothing conspiratorial.

1.) Covid moved people out of offices and working from home. Amazon and other etailers are becoming the norm for delivering goods that previously you'd pick up on the way home from the office.

2.) The absolute key to having the lowest costs of goods is to have an adequate warehouse infrastructure local to the market. Its all about shipping and handling costs. That is why you see so much infill of completely saturated areas like port of long beach / inland empire. The location is key, but there is no land. Hence, you previously ignored the low-value aging light commercial but now you notice a 1 million square foot distribution center in its place.

3.) Covid showed us how vulnerable our dependency on certain ports were for the nation's goods distribution. Covid mishandling resulted in 6-8 week backlog queues of cargo ships off the California coast waiting to get to Long Beach and San Francisco to unload and supply the nation. That won't happen again, there is major growth in ports like Houston, Jacksonville, Charleston and New Orleans, along with interior hubs like Dallas creating multiple distribution channels for needed goods. This in turn is creating a massive amount of industrial real estate growth in these 15+ key markets to create supply chain resiliency.

Or it could be a conspiracy....

Explain to me please why it is wrong for companies to build data centers etc. and buy power? How do you think this site is hosted?

What does surprise me though is if power requirement is so great why they do not generate their own power. We have multiple clients with similar power requirements that generate their own power using either IC engines or boilers. They literally save millions each year buy not buying power from the grid. The ROI is only a few years.

In regard to being "carbon neutral" if one is buying carbon credits then they can be carbon neutral. That does not mean no emissions. As a matter of fact ,analyzers and software we provide to clients measure what is emitted so clients can buy the right amount of emissions credits if they exceed their allocation or in some cases sell their surplus allocation to others.

Here is a screenshot from one our cabinets of data we track for the client and also directly report electronically to government agencies per regulations. We totalize all emissions daily, monthly and yearly. Client buys or sells emissions credits based on their allocation. I wonder what the light company would have charged them for constant 20MW usage?

Some years ago we had a project to automate much of the cargo handling at Long Beach. The longshoreman did not like it as they could see their jobs evolving. They still wanted to manually dispatch and log containers.

They went on strike and eventually the management caved in and the project got scuttled. On the plus side we got paid for 80% of the work (per contract terms) for doing about only 25% of the project at that moment. Most profitable project ever. :ROFLMAO:

Cut and pasted direct form Google :) By purchasing offsets, I assume Google means "carbon credits"... I'm sure that makes AGore very, very happy :):)

"As of today, we have eliminated Google's entire carbon legacy (covering all our operational emissions before we became carbon neutral in 2007) through the purchase of high-quality carbon offsets. This means that Google's lifetime net carbon footprint is now zero."

1517 AD - Catholic Church Sells Indulgences so someone can sin for a small fee
2020 AD - Global corporations buy carbon credits so they can sin for a small fee

history doesn't repeat but it does rhyme
Well, both of them are for profit so I say it's not surprising. :)

If you knew how the industry works, then you'd understand that it still works to clean up the environment.

The carbon credits (and NOx, SOx) are allocated on a yearly basis on a sliding scale.
Some hypothetical numbers...
Year1 - 50 tons.
Year 2 - 45 tons
Year 3 - 40 tons etc., etc.

In order to comply companies have to improve their equipment to emit less and/or buy credits from someone that has a surplus.

Eventually, supply of credits diminishes and companies are forced to improve their emissions. Or move their plants to China or Mexico so they don' have to deal with the regulations.

Thanks again for your support on the Rhodesian Shotgun thread. From the amount of "LIKES" it received, it appears there was only ONE person who objected. Hes also the same one who continually insisted on interjecting his posts that werent relevant to the thread.
