.416 Rigby, 400gr Swift A-Frame, Accurate 4350

Does anyone have load data for the subject components? I've used Accurate 4350 with Cutting Edge Bullets 400 grain Safari Solids with great results, and I've got a lot of the powder so I'd prefer to use it, but I'm hesitant to extrapolate data between these two bullets given their disparate construction.

I run the exact same load data with my CEB solids and swift A frames in my 470 and my 416 rigby. I have not used accurate 4350 but I have used H4350 and RL 16 and I use the same powder charge with the A frames and the CEB. The both shoot to the same POI. Pretty handy!

Thanks for info. That's really good to know. I will just start low and work my way up with the Swifts just as I did with the CEB bullets.

How do you feel about extrapolating between Accurate 4350, H4350 and IMR4350?

The Swift manual lists both H4350 and IMR4350 for the 416, 400 gr SAF.

H4350: Starting 81.8 gr for 2310 fps. Max of 88.0 gr for 2368 fps.

IMR4350: Starting 80.9 gr for 2261 fps. Max of 87.0 gr for 2359 fps.

Accurate 4350 is a touch slower than those two on the burn rate chart, so it should be good to go. It sits just south of RL17.

I've compared the published load data for the three 4350s where I've been able to find it, and it appears that Accurate 4350 generally takes about 2 grains more powder. That would make sense if it's slower.

@PARA45 you noticed that too! Yes, that's what the Swift manual shows. The load density is only around 80%, suggesting the 4350 powders might not be the best choice. Having said that, H4350 is the magic powder in my 404 Jeffery.

I load 103 grains of RL-25. They run right at 2400 fps over the chronograph in 50 degree ambient temp and group right around 3 in an inch or so. Hard to beat that.

To be clear, yes 3 shots in less than an inch & a half.....Ruger rifle & 416 Rigby were easy to work loads up for with Swift & Barnes/Solid bullets.

Thanks for the clarification. I misread or misunderstood the post to mean a 3 inch group being hard to beat.
