Initial thought was this takes away from Biden's base. Second thought is this stops Trump's growing support among blacks. Third thought is whichever side looses is going to blame RFKJr.

Final thought, this will be the most significant and disruptive third party candidate since Perot.

I saw a report this morning on National Review that Ukraine made a mess of a Russian air base using ATACMS. The version that uses cluster bomblets. The first known use of them in the conflict. Russian sources say it was the most destructive attack in the war so far.

Yes they hit them night before last. Both airfields were used by attack aviation assets. Russian bloggers call the strikes the worst since the beginning of the war. They are using the older M39 missile that my brigade used during Desert Storm. It carries 950 CBU type bomblets that are particularly destructive to thin skin targets and unprotected troops. An airfield would be the perfect target. The base below was on the receiving end of two missiles. Depending on who is doing the counting it appears 6-9 helicopters were destroyed at the base below. That would have included several of their ever rarer KA-52 attack helicopters.

2016 taught me to never trust polls. If you need evidence just let me know. I wouldn’t consider myself a Trumpster, but I’m definitely a conservative. I don’t fear Kennedy taking Republican votes. He would undoubtedly do more damage to Biden as you look at his approval ratings even among Democrats.

I also think this election will have a very low participation rate because there are a lot of people from both sides who won't vote for either Biden or Trump.

I tend to agree that independent turnout could drop. I just can’t see anyone getting behind Biden at this point unless they are absolutely anti-Trump. That’s why I have stated that I thought Kennedy will hurt Biden more than Trump.

Approximately 15m more Americans voted in 2020 than any other presidential election. At the moment, the same two candidates are leading in their party polls. Why do you think we will now have low participation?

Kennedy is polling around 10-15%. The highest percent since Perot who definitely changed election results. Why won't he do real damage?

I frankly do not think I am completely ignoring anything - to include this poll. I find it wise to look at all sorts of data, not just that which fits a narrative with which I am comfortable. I have no idea if what the poll found will play out a year from now or not. As you note it seems to run against what has until now been conventional wisdom.

I simply noted Marsist has an established record of accuracy. Their findings indicate Kennedy may hurt Trump more than Biden. I suspect that it is worth thinking through just a bit.

Fair enough, there is a very long time before elections. Looking at data, no matter how speculative, does provide interesting conversation. I just don’t believe any poll has a crystal ball to predict the future.

I remember quite a few years ago, reading news on some high profile internet portal, stating that first time in history, British population is less then 50% in London. Like 51-49%. It was maybe 10 years ago or so. If that is true, I am not surprised.
But Uk is secular state, so religion does not matter in election process.

I think RFK, Jr will pull a lot of liberals, but not many progressive. Every year this guy along with Larry David, head to Deer Valley to raise money for the Waterkeepers Alliance. About 1/4 of Hollywood shows up along with every liberal who has a house in Deer Valley shows up (and that’s a lot) it’s quite the sight. He will draw a lot of left support.

Because neither candidate is all that appealing to their respective bases today compared to the last election. Biden will lose votes over his support of Israel, promising to build a wall, and barely having a pulse. Trump, I fear, is yesterday’s news. I don’t think the trials will do much one way or another. For every supporter who sees the indictments as political harassment, another be turned turn off by them.

There is no homogenous "Native American" either. Hundreds of different tribes scattered coast to coast, who fought with and enslaved those tribes they conquered. Would they owe reparations to the defeated tribe?
There are thousands of slaves, of every nationality today, in many countries (undoubtedly in the US as well). It is just not done in the open. Throughout history, man has enslaved other men, typically from being the victor in battle. Anyone with any intelligence knows that applying modern PC thinking to the events of the past is foolish, at best.
Reparations are a bid to win votes, period. There is nobody alive today that was either a slave, or a slave owner in these United States, in the stereotypical sense.

Why did eight Republicans led by Matt Gaetz think their personal political prejudices were more important than the good of the party as a whole when they voted with every single democrat to oust McCarthy? People on this thread lauded them as having principles over political expediency. I would assume they would be equally proud of those who resolutely oppose Jordan this time.

But yes, this has turned from political theater to pure comedy.
