At least you have someone to blame. I have only myself to blame. My first DG rifle was also Brno ZKK 602 in .375 H&H. 3 rounds touching at 100m. Back then I was able to pick from several based on the factory test target. It had so-so finish, so I had it bedded and re-finished the stock. It was a beauty. Then I had one more with hog-back stock. I always buy different makes of guns and start with eclectic collection only to end up with CZs and Mauser 98s. Then I sold everything and my buddy got me into hunting again few years ago. I swore I would only have few calibers and nothing big. I started with CZ 550 FS in 9.3x62. Then a .375 H&H Sako, 375H&H Whitworth, Ruger .458 Lott, CZ 550 458 Lott, etc. Sold the Sako and traded the Ruger for the same but in .416 Rigby. Now I'm thinking of elling it or trading it on a CZ in .416 and then all I "need" is a .404 Jef. I do have the other classics like 7x57 and 8x57 and 8x60 also. Old Brno 21s and Mausers of course. LOL

i may keep it with iron sights, but if i decide to put a scope on it then ill likely put a VX3 1.5-5x20 on it (i have one without a home).

Go with the open sights, I just shot my first deer with my open sighted 9.3x62. It was an awesome feeling.

I can relate, I shot my first deer with a Pennsylvania long rifle (muzzle loader). iron sights work just fine as long as your inside 100 yards.

Digging up old posts but keen to understand more about the 350 getting this performance.

I had a mate rum the 350 Rigby on Quick load and he entered the wrong H2O weight so instead of 358 RUM it will in fact just out do the 358Norma Mag. To get this you just need to load it to modern pressures which it can take. Rigby down loaded this round so its trajectory would match that of the 303Brit. The calibre most of their clients were familiar with. Use 358Norma Mag loads as your starting point. If you made a 350Rigby improved

I found this out in time and the rifle is being chambered for 358RUM. Why, because I can and I have a 35Sambar-358WSM- and this is not to far behind the Norma Mag so might as well get something that has a bit more again. If you made a 350Rigby improved you would not be to far behind a 358RUM and brass would last a bit longer.

@Rule 303 I don't understand why you want this or why you chose this...but the geek in me is intrigued by your project and have enjoyed reading everything thus far!

Wishing you much success with your new toy! (it appears to be a heat seeking Eland/Giraffe ventilation device?)

rookhawk, good question. I am a bit of a sad case (basket case), being a 358 calibre nut. Just like the calibre and I like unusual cartridges. The 358RUM will be good for long range hunting, the little I do of this. It is more than capable of taking Buff and Elephant cleanly, though not allowed.

I intend to run Woodleigh bullets it and maybe some monometals. I have found the max listed impact velocity for the Woodleigh 35cal projectiles to be some what understated so they should work well in the 358RUM. Don't get me wrong about the Woodleighs 35 cals, they work in 358Win and 35Sambar. I figure out of the 358RUM at close range they will loose more than 15% of their weight but still hold for penetration.

I am hoping to hunt Namibia in the next couple of years for Gemsbok and Kudu. I figure the 358RUM will be just enough rifle for this:LOL:
