Who owns and uses these calibres

Hi,
The only one that I haven't owned is the 333Jeffrey. I currently own a 9.3x62 Husquvarna, a 9.3x74R Ruger No1, 2 x 7x57 sporters. I have owned and sold a 350Rigby built on a Ruger No1, 2x 9.3x74R doubles, and a 7x57R double, and a 318WR double.

The 7x57 was my first serious rifle and have had a few since then with my present custom being a keeper. A 120gn GS bullet at 3200fps, the 160gn Woodleigh at 2700fps and both with excellent accuracy and poi that works with the same zero.

because its mine and i decided and i was interested to see the usage of these calibres in this day and age ...........................i could have put loads more calibres on but these are ones i like and have now or have owned, or in the case of the .333jeff would get one in the right circumstances. quite a few on AH use the 6.5s and love them and i would like to get one day a ms take down in that cal, but thats not what i asked about. wondering why you specifically mention 7x57 double rifles as the the .275 no2 was the rimmed version for doubles and they arent that common these days......., as i have said earlier there are a few .275/7x57 rifles appearing at holts auctions but i wouldnt say swathes of them.

Thanks to reading on this site I recently purchased a CZ 550 in 7 X 57. I seemed to have developed a flinch after shooting my M 77 in 30 06 Over the last 36 years and wanted less recoil. Have it sighted in and ready for it's first East Texas whitetail this November. Hoping to take this big seven that needs to be removed from the gene pool.

Hi,

I have, and use!, the 7x57. Have two rifles: the old one, my ONLY rifle for many years, came from my Great Grand Father...! Trhought my Grand Father. Is a so-called Plezier Mauser DWM Original Factory Sporter, not a military convertion. I have seen only ONE exactly as mine, in prisitine condition, in www.collectiblefirearms.com, a few years ago. 200 numbers from mine but with original double triggers. Mine has all the proof marks of the era: 2,75 GBP over a Stmg. Has its original rust blueing. It has since many years (I put it...) a Hensoldt Diasta 4x32 Ret. N 4. Original also. Still shoot 1"/100 meters with 160/175 grs bullets....
The other 7x57 is a Mauser 1935 (action from an original M1935 7,65x53 Argentine German Carabine Mausers, 10000 were bought in that decade and were put in storage and never used...) with a SIG barrel. The barrel (I have another one, also new, as a back up...Ja!) came from Chile. They was replacement barrels for the 1912/1935 Chilean 7 mm Mauser Rifles. Great gun!!! And an honest 1" (less, normally...) rifle for 4 rounds at 100 meters. With practically ANY and ALL loads... I will show you the pictures of these two rifles.

Here are the pictures of the 7x57 Mauser 1935. Also I show the moddified military trigger to a single stage. My preffered one for a non breackable hunting trigger.
And one picture with one of my sons and a rare non-tipical Red Deer... A very cold morning in the Patagonian Andes....A good shoot at 180 meters. Handloads with 173 grs H-Mantel RWS bullets and R22 powder. At 2650 f/s. Good load for big Red Deer. The sight a Zeiss Diatal DA 4x32 R1.

I have a couple of 7 x 57(s). I've taken Whitetail Deer with them without any problems. Since then I've switched to the 6.5 x 55 Swedish Mauser as my go to rifle for similar sized game. I also own a couple of 35 Whelens which are a "kissing cousin" of the 9.3 x62. So far I've only used them on Hogs, but am taking one on a 6 animal Plains Game hunt in August.

I will do that in a sec... or should i wait till i actually fire it? I should have the ammo by the time i get to town next, but only got one day there before i fly out to RSA so it might have to wait till i get back from Pretoria.
Or i could test it in the front yard... could be good theft prevention for while i am away again.

So to make it official, i am now the proud owner of a 333J bolt action. Made by Chas Osbourne and dates back +- 100years.
The rifle is not in great shape and needs a bit of work, but it has a good action and barrel.
The stock needs some tlc and the front sight is located somewhere in the Zambian bush...

I have a 7x57 Mauser which is similar to the 275 Rigby. I also have a CZ 550 FS in 9.3x62. I hope in the not too distant future to do a Cape Buffalo hunt. I would probably bring two calibres...my 9.3 and 404 Jeffery. I also have a BRNO 602 375H&H, CZ 550 416 Rigby and CZ 550 450 Rigby but am partial to the 404. Actually can't decide between my BRNO 8x68 or the 9.3 to be honest

I blame they guys I used to work with at a gun store many years ago. They got me hooked on DG rifles. It started with a BRNO ZKK 602 in 375H&H. They had a couple come into the store (actually we were the first store to retail BRNO rifles in Canada). They sold one but the other one sat for a while. They started to bug me about it saying that I needed a DG rifle. I said "why" and the one owner said "because I said so". OK good enough for me. He is also the reason behind me getting a 9.3x62 & 404 Jeffery. I said "why" and he said "because you don't have one and plus I said so!" Over the last several years I have purchased a CZ 550 in 416 Rigby, then CZ 550 in 450 Rigby, then CZ 550 FS 9.3x62 then had a custom 404 Jeffery built, then bought my friend's (yes same guy I used to work for) 458 Lott (which I'm toying with the idea of rebarrelling to 550 Magnum), now I'm having a 358 Norma Mag built. This is an expensive hobby and I blame my friend! LOL
