"Who Builds a Magnificent 500 Jeffery"?

Thank you @buckstix & that is beautiful. ..

It's a bit short and some may argue the weight. The only way I ended up with it in time (Jeffery was Misspelled on the listing)

What do you mean short? And what does it weigh?

I really got hooked on "the cartridge". Knowledgeable members shared the great names in Gunmaking history & it's been a joy, researching, networking, sharing ideas for a proverbial future commitment.

And my extended thanks to everyone that shares links, photos, suggestions .. I really would love to see another example from W.J. Jeffery & Co.

Thanks for posting the details. The forend cap on your rifle looked a little like some ebony I am using on a knife handle at the moment, so wondered if it might have been similar on your rifle. Haven't worked with Rosewood though, so would not have identified that without your post.

I really don't know, short of a 22" Barrel & 14" LOP. The spec's were never included as it was on consignment. I contacted Wayne briefly in 2020, he said it was one of theirs.

I would also consider Stuart Satterlee. He makes his own actions specific to caliber. Some gun makers think his actions are the best and need the least amount of work to build a custom.
I handled a Satterlee- pretty rifle and it functioned perfectly- very accurate- very smooth. And as others have said, proper dimensions/ magazine followers etc are needed for good feeding

Is there a way to tell if you have a "Granite Mt. Arms" Action?

Thank you.

Are you asking if your 500J is on a GMA? If so, as noted before, it is on a CZ. GMA actions usually have GMA Phoenix/Prescott, AZ noted. Their 98s come in single and double SB but are fairly readily distinguishable from other manufacturers.

What constitutes a Magnificent 500 Jeffery? To me, it's not engraving or beautiful wood (which I am a big fan of), but one that's accurate, well balanced, functions flawlessly and has a 3 pos safety and great trigger. If it doesn't do all of those things I could care less what make it is.

thanks for your reply bob , is it feasible to build a 444 on a P14/M17 , or is the no4 enfield easier to build? i know where i can buy a lothar walther barrel in 44, 1-38 twist , but i think with a barrel crown of .650" the profile is too light .
