I realize it’s currently deer season but I’m looking for a hunt for next season now. Seeing as how many of you fine gentleman are well acquainted with whitetail deer I thought to ask you all for some recommendations. I’ve already done the google search and number of folks running whitetail hunts is pretty astonishing.
For a little background I grew up hunting whitetails extensively in Northern Michigan. Back then mostly folks just shot anything with antlers and I’ll bet that 80% of the bucks killed were 1 1/2 years old. I shot a lot of does and handful of small 1 1/2 to 2 1/2 year old bucks. My biggest buck ever was a 3 1/2 year old who if he had not broken off half his antlers probably would have scored 90”. Now I get to chase all kinds of critters but I still have never killed a nice whitetail buck. I’ve decided next year I want to change that.
Here’s the requirements I’m looking for. I’d like a quality rifle hunt for a 120”+ buck. I do not need fancy lodging (fine if it’s part of the deal just not a requirement) so some place warm and dry to stay is all I need. I Don’t need meals. Again if it’s part of the deal cool but I’m happy to cook my own too. I’d like to stick with Texas, Oklahoma, or Colorado. Texas would be my number one just to keep things simple on the travel side. Im good with any type of hunt. Spot and stalk, blinds, tree stand whatever as long as it’s legal. I’d also like to keep it under $3500 excluding travel and tips. I think that’s doable based on my search so far as a lot of “management bucks” (still way bigger than any buck I’ve shot) are listed under that number.
So if any of you upstanding gentleman have any good ideas let me know.
Thanks
