If you want to ship ammo with UPS, keep in mind that the ammunition must not exceed 12.7 mm (50 caliber or 0.5 inch) for rifle or pistol cartridges. Shotgun shell ammo also can’t be more than 8 gauge. UPS also lets you ship blank ammo, and ammo with inert projectiles.

All they ask is if it is ammo. Then they put the sticker on it. They don't want to know anything else unless you volunteer.

That doesn't make it ok though, you understand that right?

I mean, if you care about their rules and a business's right to do things as it sees fit.

I honestly believe somebody should be taking USPS to court over not shipping handguns and such, items used for constitutionally protected rights.

I can't imagine USPS would win, I don't think they'd have a chance, but I don't have several million to spend trying to find out. NRA, GOA, or a combination of such companies.

But sure, you can just ship things without disclosing exactly what's going on, heard of people doing that with firearms as well, just be prepared for consequences that might involve Federal authorities, depending upon the carrier and the issue, should you get caught.

The only question the the computer ask is what you are shipping. You say live ammo. Then they check it at the counter and put the stamp on the shipping box. There is no miss reprecentation there. Never heard of any rules against small arm sporting ammunitions in limited quantities.

What started this research: I was wondering if "Unfired or Once Fired Brass" was treated the same as Loaded Ammo in shipping.

Thank you.

The original post came from a quick Q&A form Yahoo .. I had to look @ UPS's official site. (Wondered if this is a Recent stipulation, or was Alway's the Case)
I did get a little lost myself on 50 Cal .500, .510, .585, .620, etc ..

thanks for your reply bob , is it feasible to build a 444 on a P14/M17 , or is the no4 enfield easier to build? i know where i can buy a lothar walther barrel in 44, 1-38 twist , but i think with a barrel crown of .650" the profile is too light .
