What were some of your favorite meals while on your hunting safari?

Gemsbok steaks, grilled over campfire, garlic potatoes with cr鑪e brule for desert followed by ice cold delicious Windhoek lager

you guys have got to quite eating antelope. and forget liver altogether. I'm telling you that warthog steak is really good meat. it does not taste like pork. it tastes like a beef steak.

my biggest surprise meal was when I paddled a group of people down the upper Zambezi River in a raft. we hired a local company (Zimbabwe) to set up camp and do dinner. they did an awesome job. they set a table by the river with a tablecloth, Hungarian goulash and good wine. Wow!!! that was an amazing evening with the sunset over the water. i will never forget that one.

kudu steaks , gemsbok ,blue wildebeest fillets , impala chops .giraffe sausages , local billtong, all the salad ingredients that were grown on site .specially the tomatoes (they don't taste that good over here )
and we tried eland steaks aswell but we didn't hunt that one ,were all fantastic and so well prepared by the camp cook, can only live in the shadows of my memory compared to the fillets of the red hartebeest that I took and i would've gladly eaten nothing else but, for the whole of my African adventure

Cape Buffalo's balls, wrapped in bacon, then fried. Served up with sudsa (meale meal).
Fresh chopped Eland liver for breakfast with beans.

Simple I know but the simple things in life are often the best!

this gives totally new meaning to tracking and finding wounded game.
Hahahahahha!

Lobster, crab & prawns flown in from Dar es Salaam with the client on his first night in camp..... beats the hell out of interminable servings of game meat. :)

If it has to be game then buffalo tail soup, eland steaks or reedbuck steaks.

You must remember that we poor deprived safari goers look forward all year long to the "interminable servings" of game meat. When the cook throws on beef and chicken the first couple of days in camp, I squeal like a pig to get game meat! We are only there for a relatively few days.

I understand that and my reply was slightly tongue in cheek :) ;) but game meat does get slightly tedious by the end of the season.

I guess I should have added spit roasted or smoked haunch of bushpig to my list of favourites and will say my least favourite is hippo.... A lot of people enjoy it but I find it very greasy.

..peanut-butter and maple syrup on freshly baked pot bread with a mug of ice-cold fresh milk..!
oooh yeah that gets me thinking .l love fresh damper (aussie bush bread ) with peanut butter cheese and mayo , washed down with cold milk

Like the old saying goes, "its all what you're used to".;)

Zebra and Eland tenderloin. I was particularly surprised at the dense texture and mild flavor of the Zebra. Everyone told us we would love Eland and we did of course.

For me grilled zebra steaks, for the wife guinea fowl pot pie.
But everything has been good including a local dish called I think- bou-bouli (sp)

I've been told that elephant meat of any kind is tougher than shoe leather, no matter how it is prepared. Anyone with firsthand experience care to comment?

I am new here. Just booked my first trip over the pond.
Right now I am only two cocktails and one hour since a wonderful dinner prepared by my loving wife. I am salivating... this d*!%-*!. thread should be against all rules.
At this point, I am willing to go on an eating "safari" and leave the weapons at home.
Boy you guys know how to get someone ready to start packing. I CAN'T WAIT.
Cheers.....

Enjoy eating your way though Africa
Look forward to hearing about what you ate ,
mate

Hi Lance, Hope you well. I collect Mauser rifles and they are very much part of my cultural history in Africa. Would you consider selling the rifle now a year on ? I'd like to place it in my collection of Mauser rifles. Many thx

I saw where you hunted elephant with backcountry safaris in Zimbabwe.
Was looking to book an elephant hunt and wanted to know how your hunt went
and if you would recommend them.

Thanks
Mike
hi, do you know about lions hunters, leopard hunters, and crocodiles hunters of years 1930s-1950s
I'm new to Africa Hunting. I would like to purchase a Heym 450-400 double rifle. I'm left-handed but would prefer a non-canted gun. Is anyone in the community considering parting with theirs?
