First trip to Africa was June 2024. I harvested 10 animals. Been deciding for a few months what to do with the backskins. Was gonna do pillow cases but then I saw these. Going to have a 4x4 foot rug done in the shape of the continent of Africa.

I'm currently trying to decide what to do with a heap of back skins as well. My current thought was also one of these type of rugs, or maybe even just a square one, or pillows. Pillows appeals to me a little bit more. But how many accent pillows does one house need?

Probably different answers if you asked me or my wife.

Excellent idea, I like it

Great thread - I'm keen to see how others have used theirs.

Yes. I had the backskin from kudu and my golden wildebeest made into a gun bag, The others will make one of these rugs. If you're getting your capes back, it's a no brainer to have the backskins thrown is as well.

You think if you’re doing dip and pack anyway you may as well take the back skins? Guessing it doesn’t cost much more to ship or okay at import? Just the dip fees?

It will sort of depend. Some dip and pack charge per item, like skull, cape, back skin. Some charge one flat fee per animal no matter what you keep.

I like to keep the back skins because I figure at some point I will have a slow year of hunting and I will get something made of the back skins with money I would have used on hunting or taxidermy. Or I might just decide to give it a shot and make something myself out of them. Some will for sure be used by me to make a pedestal stand for a mount in the near future. And until I use them, they are neat to see because they are so different in color variation from animals in NA.

I've fixed some to the back rests of 'director' style chairs.

I use another (Blesbok) to adorn a beehive section that an apiarist mate gave me, that is serving as a side table of sorts.

I think that is really neat.

I wish Ford would bring back the Excursion..

(especially the diesel)

Love it. What a great idea. Following with high interest.

Wife is having the same thing done with backskins from last June. Still waiting not so patiently for our taxidermy work to be completed.

I saw where you hunted elephant with backcountry safaris in Zimbabwe.
Was looking to book an elephant hunt and wanted to know how your hunt went
and if you would recommend them.

Thanks
Mike
hi, do you know about lions hunters, leopard hunters, and crocodiles hunters of years 1930s-1950s
I'm new to Africa Hunting. I would like to purchase a Heym 450-400 double rifle. I'm left-handed but would prefer a non-canted gun. Is anyone in the community considering parting with theirs?
